What could be done to improve this team? and is Augenthaler gonna have some decent cash to spend?
i think we need a defender, im not sure if Nowotny is gonna come back but even if he does will he even be effective? hope fully we can get a uefa cup place.

They’re always able to pick up good Brazilians at reasonable prices …
The bigger problem seems to be that current squad is under performing.
Could be that auge is the problem .

Agreed, Augenthaler is the problem.
When Augenthaler was in Nuernberg, it got so bad that the team quit on him. I was close to the situation. I consider one of the players on that team a friend of mine. Auge had the support of the fans, but not his team. That might be happening in Leverkusen too.
However, you have to admit, Augenthaler did bring an attitude to Leverkusen that seemed to have been missing before........

I think we will finish strong. At times, we have shown signs of brilliance and at others, like kids in a parking lot. I think that Agie is not the problem. I think that the team needs to approach EACH ame(not just vs Real or Bayern) with the same determination to win.
As for transfer window pickups, I'd like to see us pick up some midfielders.

I'm an American fan and I don't think Landon Donovan is anywhere near the greatest player in the world. Hell, he might not even be the best AMERICAN player.
I'd rate both DaMarcus Beasley and Eddie Johnson ahead of Donovan right now.
Landon Donovan is a very good player, but he's not much of a MAN!
Leverkusen only let Donovan go because Donovan is a punk b!itch who couldn't be a man and play his best against those as good as he is or better.
He has to be "happy" to play his best. Even when he returned to the USA, he wouldn't play in Dallas, he HAD to go home to Los Angeles.
Landon Donovan is a very good player. There are some European players he is better than.
However, as far as saying Donovan is one of the best players in the world, I'm with you and think that is completely stupid.
Landon Donovan IS NOT one of the best players in the world and probably NEVER WILL BE one of the best players in the world.
He does have that potential, but he will never reach it because he isn't enough of a man to stray too far from mommy......
He's not enough of a man to test himself against the best in the world day in and day out.
He's content to be the "Big Fish In A Small Pond" here in the USA.
And that's a shame because the kid does have the potential to be one of the best. He just never will be because he doesn't have the desire to go along with his talent.

Hi everyone,
Franca leaving Leverkusen is no longer an issue.
Today management declared that he will definitely be staying.
Reschke said Franca is needed and will see more playing-time this season.

Thanks for the information!!!
You're welcome. :)
Let's see what comes of it.
Rudi Völler went to Brasil to talk to Franca about his future and reported back that he seemed to be highly motivated. He wants to attack again and prove everyone wrong.
But Franca also did very well in last year's pre-season--was probably the most outstanding player--and everyone thought it would finally be his breakthrough. Eventually, however, nothing came of it.
I hope he can do it this time, but I would not place any bets on it.

The heading says "Leverkusen Player Robson Ponte About To Transfer To Japan".
Robson Ponte of Bayer 04 Leverkusen is about to tranfer to the Japanese "J-League". According to a report in the "Koln (Cologne) Express" newspaper, the Urawa Red Diamonds wish to sign the former Leverkusen playmaker.
"Yes, I want Ponte", says Guido Buchwald, 1990 World Champion and trainer of the J-League's sixth place team. "He wants to join us and we want him".
Ponte will make about one million Euros per season with the Red Diamonds.

«Ja, ich will Ponte», sagte Guido Buchwald, Weltmeister von 1990 und Trainer des Tabellensechsten der J-League, der Zeitung. «Er will zu uns. Wir wollen ihn.» Ponte soll bei den «roten Diamanten» in Japan rund eine Million Euro pro Jahr verdienen.

Good. His play had been subpar. See if Landon would have been man enough to stick it out, he would have had the starting role in place of Ponte. What a dumba$$!!!
But at least he is with Galaxy and has played well!!

Landon was the main reason Leverkusen decided to hold off on re-signing Ponte. Leverkusen thought Landon would be good enough to win that position.
I think Landon could have been good enough, but he wasn't tough enough mentally and cried like a little girl to go home to mommy, sis and girlfriend.
Cried to go back to where he's a star and the sport means next to nothing to most sports fans in the country.
What a f#ckin' waste........

Making your defense crappier than it already is. You guys can have that punk. Make sure you have someone back there with time to hold his hand.
