A $20,000 fine? Pathetic.

Realistically though, what can you really do to make the fans stop? I'm sure PSV doesn't want stuff like that to happen, but it's not like they can control their own fans.

You can make them play matches either behind closed doors, or at venues far, far away. Or you can fine them a helluva lot more than 20K.

Can you imagine the reaction that some supporters would have to 1 "closed" game without local tv coverage? There may be riots in the streets but the fans would learn to behave themselves in the stands.

UEFA are now appealing against UEFA, saying the fine is too lenient:

UEFA has increased the fine - by a pretty meager amount:

Boy, they sure are serious about stamping out racism .

WOW! That's a really high amount to fine PSV  If UEFA plan on stamping out racism then they need to impose far more bigger and more effective punishment than this. Bigger fines wouldn't really effect the fans that much, only the club who would be forced to do something about it themselves. I think having a few games behind closed doors would help stamp out some of the racism but there will still be that group of so-called fans who will taunt the players. People like that should be given lifetime bans from football stadiums.

PSV should have been kicked out and banned for a year if it was as bad as reported. If it was an English club, such action would be taken.

To punish a football club for the mind set and ignorance of a couple of fans is a bit odd. I guess its a case of some one needs to pay so lets punish the deeper pockets. Its hard for a Club to enforce a no racism rule: I guess you could have Bigot police listening for biased comments against specific races, religions, etc. I would hate to be the one to wade into a group of thousands and attempt to remove a group of racists.
How do you enforce a lifetime ban on a fan anyways? All they have to do is get a ticket for another seat and I cant see an usher recognizing every fan that has a ban.

Unbelievably, PSV are appealing over the increased fine, which amounts to a whopping $14,000 more than the first one:

When imposing the new fine, UEFA explained its reasoning:

I didn't know that PSV was such a piss-ant club that they have to haggle over this small amount. I know we should hope they get a result against Auxerre today, but I'd actually like to see them get stuffed from here on out.
