Can we do it??? Pull off one of the biggest upsets for MLS fans everywhere beating UNAM Pumas in MEXICO
Sorry to jump ahead of the Chicago home opener, but come on, this is gonna be one exciting and historic game if we pull off the win.
No MLS team to this day has gone down south to Mexico and gotten a W, we havn't even gotten a Tie there.
In the other Semi Final, Leg 1 > Deportivo Saprissa(CR) tied 2:2 at home vs. CF Monterey(MEX).
If DC United advance, we will play the Final 1st Leg Away on May 4, 2005, 2nd leg at home on May 11, 2005.
My prayers for a WIN on Wednsday start now. GO DC UNITED!!!

Can we? Yes. Will we? I think so, although others are not so hopeful.
I think we go in, guns blazing, and get an early goal. We do that, then I think we sit back, play the counter when available, and frustrate them to no end. They may be a skilled team, but I sincerely believe that Nowak can outcoach Sanchez and will make sure that DC is ready to go out and play our kind of game. Do that, and everything else will fall into place.

Of course it's possible. But I'd feel a lot better if all we had to do was come back from the D.F. with a draw. Our boys gave as good as they got, for the most part, but Pumas do seem to have the edge in technical skills as well as having the sort of chemistry only having a good chunk of your season under your belt can provide. Playing in an unfamiliar stadium will be hard, and the altitude could be a fitness factor--if our guys have to slow down because they're getting winded, that gives Pumas more time and space to take advantage of their edge in individual skills and the great long passing game they showed. And that could be trouble.

Its a good thing Estadio Olimpico of UNAM Pumas has a track around the futbol field. This ensures that their fans can't throw stuff at our DC players TOO easily. Believe me they do this kinda stuff.
Donovan had some ugly experiences when US recently visited Mexico at the Azteca. According to him, fans threw cups of urine at the US players and chanted Osama Osama!!
Estadio Olimpico capacity: 72,449 - and you can bet your life it will be more than full.

DC will probably suffer the same fate as Olimpia. Pumas will attack with everything making DC stay on their side of the field. How long will DC survive the pace of Pumas at the high altitude of Mexico city?
If DC can score first they can win it but not if Pumas scores first.

WOW, these cats sure know how to market their team. DC should consider some of their tactics. ;)

I doubt it, DC United isn't that kind of draw. They had 25k for the Olimpia match, I would predict a crowd of 30,000+ for this game.
