world tour soccer is an afterthought. winning eleven 8 is a wonderful representation of soccer. it's the only soccer game i have played that actually feels like soccer.
there is even a japanese version of it out for the GBA. the GBA version from 2002 is still better and more fun than the PS2 version of FIFA 2005!

I thought WTS was good the first time around, this new version sucks. There is no reality to the physics of the game. I feel like the players are ice-skating around the pitch.
WE8 is far superior to ANYTHING else out there. I am a convert to WE8. I never liked the previous versions, but have become immersed in the latest title. When you read people raving about "the gameplay," they ain't just wasting energy. It is absoultely the most REALISTIC soccer video game.
WTS & Fifa 2005 are entertaining video games, but WE8 is a much deeper and ulitmately a more satisfying way to wast some time.
Just an opinion, tho.

I have not seen how horrid WTS is this year, but in all honesty I rented WE8 and didn't like it much either.
I feel the Winning Eleven Franchise actually took a step down this year in terms of accurately portraying the skill differences of the teams on the pitch. I was wondering why, when using USA, Germany didn't seem to be anymore difficult to beat than Costa Rica.
Then I did a little research and determined there IS NO large skill difference between any of the teams in the actual gameplay. Don't believe me? Watch a cpu match between Brazil and a bad team on the hardest difficulty setting.....it is almost always a close game and the possession is 50/50.
To me, a game where all the teams have essentially the same skill level isn't fun. The team ratings say one thing, the play on the pitch says something else - namely that all the teams on the pitch play with close to identical skill.

Also, in defense of World Tour Soccer, I would say it has the absolute BEST motion-capture of any soccer title on the market. It simply LOOKS better and more realistic than FIFA and even Winning Eleven.
That said, gameplay doesn't feel quite as realistic as WE8 nor does it feature as many actual teams as does FIFA 2005. I would give the PSP's World Tour Soccer a passing grade and a soccer video game fanatic would be entertained by any of these titles, if for different reasons.
I own them all and would rank them thusly:
1. Winning Eleven - realism, good representation of actual game
2. World Tour Soccer - fluid visuals, excitement
3. FIFA - real teams, rosters, etc.
