With all this talk of Gros, Guppy, 442, 352, and the field one of the most important aspects of the RFK experience has been overlooked. The Foggy Bottom stand(s) has moved to behind 113. I went to the usual spot and saw nowt but Bud and so made a complete circuit of the stadium, getting more and more furious with each Coors Light, MGD, and Bud stand I saw. I had the letter to DCU and ARAmark already written in my head by the time I found the Foggy Pub in the utter bowels of the stadium. $6.50 for a 12oz plastic cup of Foggy. Same price as last year less beer. I told them they should let people know they've moved and consolidated their space. FWIW there was one Redhook station slightly to the left of where the Foggy place was.

There were a lot more beer and food stands. There is not really much more choice.

I wonder who made the profit off of the PUMAs gear for sale?

ARAmark bites my ass btw.

Profit or no, I was pissed off to come into OUR stadium and have the very first thing I see be a huge f'ing booth selling f'ing Pumas gear. This from the same people who can't figure out that maybe, just maybe, if they were to offer DCU gear with FOUR FREAKING STARS on it there might be some demand for that sort of thing. Instead we have to make it ourselves.

Glad there's an [R] in the thread title. Wouldn't want anyone to unsuspectingly stumble upon the news that there's beer for sale in the stadium before they had a chance to watch the tape. ;)

Not too far away from the Foggy Bottom Pub (12 oz. is a rip off) was a Guiness/Harp stand. I didn't get the price or size of drinks but it was definitely open. Great idea to put all the good beer stands behind the gaping hole in the end of the stadium where so many fans get to sit.

Going forward, I'm carrying a flask to games. Much cheaper and I'm always in control of the quality/strength of my drink.

Leaving a 1 - 1 game to look for beer is a nerve-racking experience, especially if it requires an entire circuit of the stadium.:D

I was happy to see a stand selling Harp, not so happy at the small party sized cup I was handed and $6.50 that left my wallet.

I passed by there twice, and both times nobody was there except 1 person. I guess she was serving beer-I thought maybe she was the cleaning lady or something I couldn't tell if it was open. The booth was huge-made of wood (or fake wood). Not tiny like it was before, but before it was in a more congested area for sure and there was a line.

I tried that Foggy Bottom once for the h*ll of it-good stuff. I don't mind Budweiser but I feel for those that don't like it and now have to go out of their way to get the Foggy Bottom.

Didn't see the Harp/Guiness stand, but did notice the Blue Moon (Belgian White) stand. Perhaps it was the the weather or the beer (inside me) but the Blue Moon cups (also $6.50) seemed larger than the Foggy Bottom.

Wonder if there's a list of where each beer stand is located? When I first got there, I stopped an Armank (sp?) guy (in a tie -- so he must be important) and asked if there was a Foggy Bottom stand -- he knew right where it was.

Well....I think it's more the Foggy Bottom location.

I mean that's a big part of the experience-walking around and finding out about the new beer locations. Look-we pay $ to sit on our *sses root for the home team, and to walk around and feel the atmosphere-and I for one don't want it ruined the whole spontaneity of the experience is just-so-special.

Think of the people who skipped yesterday's game and don't know where the Foggy Bottom stand is. Maybe they'd want to wait until the next game to find out instead of getting the result here on the Big Soccer DC United board.

Yep, you can get 12oz of Guinness™ for the bargain basement price of $6.50...

I'm a sucker and went ahead and got two...

I pounded a bunch of 'Old Speckled Hens' ale at the tailgate with an in-ordinate amount of Captain Morgans and (ugh) a couple of shots of wormfoods Mezcal**. I bought exactly 2 beers inside. It was good to see Bill "The Beer Man". I couldn't believe they were selling plastic bottles. Let's see how long THAT lasts.

**Somebody shoot me next time you see me doing this.....

Was anyone elsed pi$$ed at the fact that there were hardly any vendors walking the stands during the game?

I would say NO vendors because I didn't see or hear any the entire time I was standing in 232, but I can't vouch for the rest of the stadium.

Well I guess it's good that the stadium authority didn't get much money out of those concessions yesterday, since United doesn't get any of it anyway.

But I still would have liked a beer during the second half... my voice was killing me and I wasn't about to get up and get one on the concourse.

Also, I saw the frigging Guinnes mini-pints... what a fricking rip-off... 6.50 for what looked like 10oz. that's .65 an ounce!!!!! Even IF they were 12oz., it's still something we should be complaining about big time.

Along a slightly similar line, the beer vendor in our section was chanting "Mexico, Mexico, Mexico" as he walked up. Trust me, he wasn't Mexican. To his credit, he stopped when I called him on it.

It's all about the dollars.

If one must spend $6.50 on a beer at RFK. May I suggest you do so by purchasing the Blue Moon Belgian White (Belgian...yeah right!), if only because it has the highest ABV rating of any of the beers they serve there at a whopping 5.5%

I, too, went on an Odyssey looking for the Foggy Bottom stand and was directed to it by the tie-wearing Aramark man. He referred to it as a "pub," not a "stand," and said it would be very nice when it is finished. Well, at $6.50 for perhaps 12 ounces (but probably less) it's going to have to be very nice indeed before I frequent it again. And it's a long walk from section 204!

For those interested in fluids w/increased alcohol %, they were selling vodka near Gate F.

I found out about this when I met DeKo at halftime and she said "Look! They're selling vodka!" :p

i found a foggy bottom "pub" around sections 217/218 area. they had ale and lager but that's all. the woman working it said they would have a full bar and tv's installed in time for the nationals home opener.btw, i was the only one there and did not look to be open when i walked up. but it was expensive and half of what we were served last year.

Re: The post about Pumas gear for sale at RFK reminded me of when Mario Lemieux came out of retirement. His first game for the Penguins was at MCI Center vs the Caps. I get in and look at to the souvenir stand in the arena and it's draped with Lemieux jerseys for sale. I e-mailed Ted Leonsis and like a smart ass that I can be at times, asked what's next when Pittsburgh comes back, Iron City Beer taps?

Sad to think that if one takes a second mortgage out, you can drink beer for the entire season. $6.50 for a 12 oz'er? Yikes!

If one must spend $6.50 on a beer at RFK. May I suggest you do so by purchasing the Blue Moon Belgian White K bought me a small cup of this stuff. It was a bit sweeter than most other beers I've tried, but not too bad.
It is, however, the stickiest, nastiest beer I have ever had all over me (due to the crazed hug I received from my blind side after the DC goal :))

It's a good beer. If you want Belgians, than this isn't the path to take as Blue Moon is a subsidiary of the mighty but weak Budweiser(which by the way Germany wouldn't even brew but.... I digress)

Lastort will hook you up with a nice one or two belgians at the game. I am sure he doesn't mind sharing do you Mike? :D
