Hi everyone, this is my first post after lurking for a while.
I'm all excited because I will be going to see Chelsea for the first time in my life playing Birmingham this weekend. I've supported them for over 20 years but have never had the chance to see them play before due to living in N.Ireland. I've wanted to go for years but none of my mates support Chelsea but I've managed to twist my girlfriends arm to going. The only problem being is that I have to take her shopping in Harrods and to see Madam Tussauds! Doh! I'm staying a the Chelsea Village Hotel on Friday and Saturday night. I'm also getting a tour of Stamford Bridge on Friday so it's going to be a busy weekend!
I just wondered if anyone could give me any advice on my trip? Any places (bars :D ) worth seeing? Anywhere I should avoid? Any other tips to make this a weekend to remember? Although I know it will be anyway. I've warn my girlfriend that see might see me cry! :)
Thanks for any help
Mark.
Bring some tissues with you, buy her something nice to deflect attention from all the Chelsea stuff you'll be buying, and give my best to the boys. :D
Have fun! :D

Thanks.
I'm seriously interested in what made him support Chelsea over the last 20 years. Particularly considering his location.

How come you never went for 20 years?
I was stationed in the Lurgan for 2 years in the 80's, i made it back for quite a few matches.
Train down to Dublin to the North Wall, ferry to either Liverpool or Fishguard, train to Brum and connect with one to London.Bobs yer uncle :)

Just walk down Fulham Road and take it all in. Check out the SoBar (on the corner, you'll see people OVERFLOWING out of it) right on the corner outside the old Shed End. Watch "Fluffy" sing Chelsea Allouette.

LOL...you have to admit. It was a good line. I laughed my booty off.
Just trying to clean up the board. People need to learn to be more selective with the "New Thread" button. I hate nothing more than coming on, checking the forum and seeing 3-4 new threads that:
a) don't need to be opened, belongs somewhere else
b) are asking or pointing out something like:
-channel of game
-video of game
-an article for a topic of which there's already a thread for
People need look and think before clicking "New Thread".
Are you sure you're not a Chelsea fan? You spend an awful lot of time here recently. :D

I've never made it before because I've never had anyone to go with. Most of my mates support MU or Liverpool. I've never fancied going alone. Hopefully my girlfriend will enjoy the occasion and go with me again. At least I will always remember that the first time I went to Stamford Bridge was the year we won our first Premiership title! Many more to come! :)

Yip, I admit that was the main reason. When I was kid if you wanted to play football during school lunch hour you had to pick either M.Utd or Liverpool. At the time I picked Liverpool. However when I went to Grammar school we didn't play footy anymore. I started playing Rugby but still liked football. When I was 11 or 12 I was told that the city of Liverpool had strong left wing Irish connections. Lets just say that I didn't and decided that I wanted to support a British 'Blue' side. Chelsea was the natural choice. I know it all sounds a bit silly now but that's what growing up in N.Ireland during the troubles does to you!
Peace
Mark.
