Hey all,
I live in the good old town of New Canaan CT, which is basically a suburb or New York, thus all i get is NY tv. What is the best option for me to get the Revolution onto my tv set this summer. I have IO digital cable service, no satallite. Can i get FSN, Is it worth it? Can i get the direct kick package. Is there any other station I can buy for 3 months that will give me a good amount of Revolution matches? I can't keep watching them on the MLSnet.com live feeds, it's just getting annoying having to watch the bad quality video stream. Any and all help will be very helpfull.
Thanks,

The Direct Kick package would be the way to go. For $69 you really can't beat it. There aer only going to be a handful (7 I think) of games on Fox Sports New England, 2 on ESPN and probably/maybe more on Fox Soccer Channel. What you need to do is call up your local cable provider and see if they offer it. If it's cable and they offer it then it will be through the inDemand service.

If you call 888-SPORTS-iN, it should prompt you to enter your zip code and patch you through to your local cable provider.
I had trouble with mine NOT offering it so I'm kind of SOL in regards to that. Good luck.
EDIT: I'm betting you have Cablevision and according to their website you may be in luck. Unfortunately this stuff deviates by area but just give'em a call and order direct kick. That'd probably be your best best.
Maximum Sports Action!
Get more of the sports action you demand by adding optional sports packages. Watch out-of-market games from the NBA, MLB, NHL® and now Major League Soccer. Optional ESPN college basketball and football packages are available, too!

Free :DOr, if that doesn't work, you could try mlsnet.com
Interestingly, there is a program known as GetASFStream that will let you save those game feeds, if you need them for something. They're around 300Megs though. Something I did a bit of last year was to save the "radio" feeds, re-encode them, and multiplex them in with video from a DVD recording of the game, then burn it back out to a disc.
Hardest part is synching the audio to the video, but I've got that down to a science now.

Although I have digital cable, including iNDemand, my provider, Charter, says that Direct Kick is not available in my area. You may find that you have the same problem. (I, like you, cannot get WB56 in my area) I emailed Craig Tornberg about my problem and in true fashion, he emailed me back while still in San Jose and provided his cell phone number! He assured me that the Revs work hard to have all their matches televised just so any fan who wants can see every game. He said he would pass my concern on to MLS as well. So far I haven't heard anything back, but since this week's game is at home and televised on FSC I have at least a one week reprieve. I will post any news--good or bad--that I get on this front.

Just a heads up Rev. If you're not treckign down to the game tonight it'll be on Fox Soccer Channel. From teh sounds of it you probably don't have that, but usually anybody with a decent digital cable package (beyond basic digital cable) should have it. So if you can sneak over to a friend's or a bar/resteraunt you should be able to catch it.

Or, if that doesn't work, you could try mlsnet.com
will the games shown on ESPN and FSC not be archived on MLSnet?
are there any other stations that have the rights to the game, or just those two?
any info appreciated, thanks.

If the game is archived, it will be here: mms://a1272.v10869e.c10869.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/1272/10869/v0001/mlb.download.akamai.com/10869/reflector:39796
The game was on WB56, so it should be archived.

Speaking to what happened last year only, the ESPN games were not available in the Direct Kick package, nor on MLSnet.com.

dosent look like its archived yet then, i guess. the link comes up, but the game isnt there and i dont see it at MLSnet.
there was a thread about it in one of the general MLS forums here where people were saying that the link was showing a rugby match at first, and then was fixed. maybe they're working on getting it straight.
i wanna see!
