Someone tell me why I can't dream of a fifth place finish for Dortmund??
Besides Leverkusen, who is between us and fifth place who you can't see dropping a few matches between now and the end of the season???
We are six points out of fifth place with 21 points left to play for.
Why the hell not??!!!
OK. I'll put the crack pipe down now!!
OR SHOULD I KEEP SMOKING??!!! LOL!!!

It will be tough but not impossible:
All the teams that are between us and 5th play games vs. Schalke and Bremen except Hannover who plays bayern and stutgart if everything happened to go our way all the teams would drop both games. First we have to beat Leverkusen this weekend and then win our games vs Bremen and Schalke. And then not drop any points to teams we should beat.
It can be done!!!

I like the way you think. However, I have to say that I don't think we HAVE to beat Leverkusen. We do have to beat Bremen and at least draw with Schalke in my mind. Of course, while either winning or drawing the other matches.
Hannover have come back to earth after their great start. HSV just drew in freakin' Hamburg and we beat them at their house. I think they are coming back to earth. We just beat Hertha ourselves.
I think the only true "solid" team between us and fifth is Leverkusen. I think before the season is said and done, Leverkusen may pass Bremen. Of course that means Bremen falls back to fifth, but if we can beat them, that'll take some wind out of their sails too.
Fifth place for BVB?? Tough, unlikely, but possible.......
We can agree on that!

Obviously it's going to be quite an ask but, indeed, why the hell not? Just look both at our remaining fixtures, and more importantly, the fact that we're a team in form as opposed to those above and around us.
Ok, say we get a good result in Leverkusen. Hardly impossible, they're coming off a loss and our form away from home since Christmas has been excellent, probably better than at the Westfalenstadion. Not even a win, necessarily, a point would suffice. Then we're at home to Bielefeld and 'Lautern, both winnable games, especially if that was on the back of four or five good results previously. We can win in Freiburg, and while Bremen will be a tough task, to be sure, they may well have slipped even further and with 80,000 in attendance I think we should be optimistic.
The derby? Who knows what state Shalke will be in, they tend to lose it when a trophy's in sight anyway and if they're in contention with two weeks to go there'll be a lot of nervous people sweating on the result. On the other hand, we have less riding on it and if get a goal up....
That leaves a home game against Hansa. No gimme, god knows we've seen heartbreak against small teams on the last day of the season in recent times, but if we're coming off a good result from Gelsenkirchen then I don't think we'd slip up this time.
Of course, that's the optimistic view, but I don't think it that far from reality. If we go down heavily in Leverkusen then that could really hurt, but we recovered well after the Bayern result, no reason to think the same couldn't happen again. Besides, even if we don't make 5th place, how many people would have been confidently predicting the possibility of European football last November/December? Fifth, sixth, seventh, I think any of these places would represent an excellent turnaround on the part of the players and coaching staff.

Always will. Starting tomorrow. I don't expect us to win. We haven't won in Leverkusen since 1991.
But I do expect us to give them a hard match and possibly come out with a point.

I know it's bad to use my own quote, but I had to express how much I was pleasantly surprised by our TEAM today!!
I wasn't calling them a "team" because they really haven't been a "team" since 2001-2002. Sammer left such a destructive mess of a "mannschaft".
However, it now looks as if BvM (Coach van Marwjik) finally has turned these guys into a "TEAM" again!
Before this weekend, I thought there were two matches we were almost sure to lose. This was one of them. The other is the pentultimate weekend of the season at Schalke.
Now, I feel like our guys can take on almost anyone.
Most took that whipping from Bayern the wrong way. Our guys turned it into something positive.
HEJA BVB!!!
