I'd be terribly surprised if every England National game isn't televised, even the friendlies. EPL will be on break by then, so I don't know what they'd show instead. A bigger question is what kind of audience it will draw.

The USA- Holland game seemed to have a big impact on DMB and Gibbs club careers. I guess this could do the same.

It will certainly be on TV, probably on SKY rather than BBC. The 0-2 defeat in 93(?) was on TV, although the 5-0 win over there in about 85 wasn't, because it was played at something like 3am our time.

It would be nice to see Bealey and SWP play against eachother.
Could be the only 1 on 1 match up we could win

Why is it a good opportunity? Who has a chance to move over to England that isn't already playing in EPL or Coca Cola?
Dempsey. Maybe, but does he have enough caps? EJ. Already on the radar. One friendly isn't going to make that much of a difference.

I think Landon Donavon has enough caps to go abroad and get a work permit

It could make a difference for someone like Mastroeni who's already got the caps, but whose position isn't one that is easily quantifiable in stats. Or it could put someone like Ching, Buddle or Chad Marshall on the radar that wasn't previously there.

Mastroeni maybe. For some reason, I don't see him in England.
You don't think the other three aren't already on the radar? I'm sure English scouts are watching MLS games and will get a better idea from watching those games than one friendly...

there is some merit to seeing what they can doing against higher level competition (EPL players)

we all must remember that having enough caps is not the only way to get a work permit. Time and time again, managers have gone to the appeals board fighting for a player to be admitted because he is of international quality and would start on the team and be an intergral player yadayadayada. Tim Howard got through on appeal, although bobinho didnt, but Jovan made it through on appeal and if i remember correctly eddie lewis did as well (didnt he?). So if a team wanted demspey and he was denied outrite on work permit issues, the manager could go to the board and tell him all that jazz and also point out that he has played the last 8 straight games for the usa (more or less)

Tottenham's bizarre approaches for Convey seemed to come on the heels of two even more meaningless DCU-Tottenham friendlies, so I guess you never know...

Will England play all of its regulars?
Nope. Just like we won't. I hope Buddle, Dempsey, Gaven, Marshall, and Eskandarian see a good amount of playing time.

Irrelevant. England is cold and rainy.
Oh, yeah, England is very cold and rainy. Not really perfect for
Landon?

Hello I think it will be broadcasted in England. But to be sure
I ask my english friend first. It is dream game: England - U.S.A.
I would be happy if Americans beat England, our biggest rivals.
You know Germany and England - the biggest rivals in Europa
in soccer. So make it and beat them!. But even Donovan will
perform good, he will never go to England to play soccer. It is
not warm there, there is much terrible weather then in Germany.
They have mostly rain. But England has very good teams: liverpool,
Chelsea, Arsenal. If I were Landon, I would try to play in one
of this team.
So beat England

don't forget england is preparation for the costa rica match the following weekend, followed by the visit to panama 3 days later...
so expect the usual suspects to see playing time agaisnt england, meaning the starters against costa rica, would MORE than likely start against england...
and anyone who'd see PT in either of the hex matches comes on to get some time as a sub...
so the eskandarians, and gavens and marshalls of the world, are NOT very likely to see PT, unless the injury bug hits....
dempsey is the new face I want to see in extended minutes against england...
and give chings play in mls thus far, ching and EJ would appear to be the starting forwards...
I suspect england has some A list guys, but it's the B guys who want to prove something, and those are the guys who'll give usa a better game....
chicago's a nice party town, so rooney et al might have an other agenda other than a meaningless friendly

You know, I'm beginning to come around to the side that says why are we so freakin' eager to see our guys go overseas, the sooner the better. My gosh, I love watching these guys play HERE. When they're in England, France, Belgium, Holland, you name it, we hardly ever get to actually see them play. All we can do is listen to a radio or read a PBP thread....and see visions of glory in our mind, and occasionally a FSC game. I want to watch the guys play and develop right here. Because that's what they're doing; they're all developing just fine right here.
As far as playing in Europe, I don't believe it's developed any of our players any better than being in MLS. And in some cases, the players may have actually gotten worse. I don't think Bocanegra has developed all that much, i.e., gotten better, since he went over there....and he's played a buttload of games. I actually thought he did better with the Nats when he was playing with Chicago.
And going over there has totally tanked Bobby Convey's game. Totally. Now he's even having a hard time making the bench for the Nats (Guat game in Birmingham, for example.)
Beas is playing great and doing well, though some would say we haven't seen that same kind of performance for the National team - perhaps because he hasn't been playing in his correct position(?)
I'd say Eddie Lewis has developed very well over there; he's one of the few. But no one can say whether he would have developed that well just staying right here.
I guess all I'm saying is I'm looking forward to seeing our guys playing - because we actually get to see them play, regardless of what "opportunities" it gives them.
