Looks like last month's FSC producer inquiry resulted in a nifty USMNT promo they aired last night during the Galaxy/Crew game. Mathis, Martino, Gaven, Zavagnin and Cannon(!), dribbling and juggling in front of the camera, with cartoonish face cutouts popping up smiling over a drumbeat and minimal narration about the road to Germany. I taped the game, and I'll admit I rewound and watched the promo a few times. It's fun, with a nice light touch (like dribbling and juggling). A far cry from ESPN's pompous, overbearing stuff (no Jack Edwards cliches within a thousand miles). Wonder what else they've got?

What's FSC?

*I know what it is. But only like 10 million people get that channel while closer to 100 million get ESPN and ESPN2. I can barely afford to pay my basic cable right now. No way in hell that I will bump it up to get a sports tier selection.

To each one's own.

IMO it's amateurish and makes soccer look like a geek sport.

Are you serious? The US population is around 300 Million.

I thought it was a little goofy myself, but at least it wasn't pompous/lame. I'll take psuedo-wacky/lame over that. But it really reminded me a little too much of Sesame Street.

I think they were going for the feel that Nike had in some of their ads last year. For my money, it wasn't half as geeky as the "stars on scooters" ads before Euro 2004. Anyway, as Grunt said, to each his own.
