i saw those two played yesterday (and many more time before), they are dangerous strikers, and i think they deserve to be in Germany (if we qualify), i don't understand why BA has never called them ( well, maybe once or twice) to the camp, i rather see them play better than Wolff, Twellman, Noonan or even Mathis. Buddle & Johnson or Eskandarian & Johnson will be great combination upfront for us.

this is a topic that has been broached quite often. I would love to see Buddle get some time, and maybe he will at the Gold Cup, but he has a ton of ability. i get the feeling that there is a clash of personalities concerning him (no i have no proof of that).

If Buddle stays healthy (big if!) and if he continues to score like he did Saturady, then you can believe that he'll get some international opportunities to prove himself. Eskandarian has only had one good pro season and if he repeats then he will also get his opportunity. There's a whole MLS season and a lot of USMNT games bwteen now and Germany.

Buddle had a pretty good game yesterday, but Esky stunk up the joint and got a yellow. He had a great season last year but he needs to at least duplicate that this year to get consideration, I think.

Buddle's biggest problem is injury. He was getting some looks in the past for the national team but then he seemed to perpetually be injured. I was even going to put him on my fantasy team this year, but he was hurt in the preseason. I was surprised that he started. I hope he stays well and can have an opportunity to show MLS and Bruce what he can do.

Edson Buddle is perfect. If only he can score the way he does in MLS and stay healthy. Think he is better than Ching.

I'm a big Buddle fan and have been following him since his days with the Roughriders. I was thrilled to see him get off to a good start yesterday but to be fair, those goals had far more to do with absolutely pathetic marking by the Galaxy than they did Buddle's skill.
Yes, Buddle showed great awareness in making his runs and fantastic touch on both shots. But against even an average defense, he is marked far tighter and likely doesn't get those goals.
I'd still like to see him get more looks from Bruce but that's based on what he's shown in the past, not yesterday. Honestly, there isn't a striker in the league who couldn't have scored a couple with the way LA marked.

Here comes a question: would you rather have a guy who can convert or a guy who gets a lot of chances but misses sitters far more often?
Obviously, I am referring to Brian Ching's missing a couple of them against Guatemala. To the contrary, Buddle's header was perfectly tucked into a bottom corner.
Poifectly.

Great, let's use a sample size of one game for both of these guys!
In his MLS career, Buddle has a shot percentage (goals/shots) of 16.5%, Ching of 20.2%.

Ching has been a very good finisher throughout his career. He missed a couple recently but it is worth remembering that he has( I believe) the highest strike rate in MLS in recent years.Oh, and he also scored yesterday.

I don't have the stats handy, but Buddle's efficiency in MLS has been very high... in terms of shots on goal, goals per minute, etc. If Ching leads him in some category, I'm not sure what that's really reflective of, but this whole breakdown was covered in depth about a year or year and a half ago.

I think Eskandarian doesn't get called because Twellman does exactly what Eski does in less games (unfortunately, this means Twellman is injured more, but still).

I don’t' know. I see problems with Eski. He seems to have a little bit of an attitude and is high maintenance from a coach's perspective. Looks like he needs a baby sitter at times.
Buddle is definitely what we want in a US striker. But, he seems to be more focused on first making his mark in the MLS. This is actually smarter in the long run in my opinion, if this is the case, because he would not have to score eight goals in his first eight games to show he is "worthy" to start over McHead. He wants to first build credibility. And no, I did not have a personal conversation with his agent about Buddle wanting to first make his mark in MLS. Just speculation. So sue me. He just hasn't really shown a significant interest in getting on the USMNT roster yet. Injuries or not.

I like what noonan has shown, he is willing to play different positions and has some good skills on the ball.....still I wouldnt mind seeing Edson getting more of a look as well.

I really agree with you in regards to Noonan. But I think he should be our LM starter. He really destroyed Honduras’s defense.

Without knowing the location of those shots, it's like comparing the accuracy of Brett Hull vs. Ray Borque. One shoots from 15 feet, the other from 45.
But from watching the highlights videos over the last year or so, I recall Brian missing more than his fair share of sitters. I don't recall Edson with many.

G/90
Ching - .50
Buddle - .58
(Twellman - .66)
SOG % (a pretty meaningless stat, in my opinion)
Ching - 48%
Buddle - 44%
I don't really see these favoring either player too heavily; if the breakdown was covered a year ago, well, Ching's played more than half of his MLS minutes since then.

Plus even going by that one game you'd have to throw Twellman in there as his 2nd half was as dangerous as I've ever seen him look.
