I was hoping that they would be stupid enough to go for Mick McCarthy, but the reality is even more hilarious.
HOWARD WILKINSON!!!
Not only will they now be relegated, but they will suffer this fate while being an even bigger laughing stock than they are now.
Someone from the USA should get Claudio Reyna out of there quickly, before he forgets how to kick a ball for less than 60 yards.

Hes good at covering until a "pro" get get involved - maybe at the end of the season. The other bloke is just a helper & I dont suppose hes being groomed for anything in the short term.
HW is good at jumping in & covering - he did it when a certain former toon hero ( later exposed as a serial bottler ) left the England Job mid campaign & ran away.
Sunderland will fight to stay up & have no further ambitions this season - they will probably stay up - just................

Wide... I can't stop laughing at this selection.
This might be on the same plane as Man City sacking Reid in favor of Brian Horton and Alan Ball.

Even better...
Ipswich has sacked Burnley, who is a decent manager...
...too late for those Mackems, though... what are they gonna do? Sack Wilko today?!
