For ************ sakes, now you think you invented stripes?
(PS...keep bumping this thread...and sending your goons and thugs north with loads of cash! The Sounders get about $8.33 for every $12.00 ticket. It's our main source of revenue. (Come Cinder scouts, come!)
Need we go down the looooonnnnggg line of Seattle firsts? OK...
First NW pro soccer club to wear green: Seattle Sounders
First pro soccer fans/booster club in NW USA: Seattle Sounders Booster Club
First Supporters Scarves: Sounders Supporters, 1997.
First club to defeat BOTH P*rtscum and Vancouver in playoffs, same season: Seattle Sounders
First group of fans to realize P*rtland wannabees are just mesmerized by their own reflections, and don't really focus on their team: Well, most of the USL. It's getting to be a joke.
Most posts about us: Well. it is close, but I do believe that SounderCentral.com has *a few* more posts about the Emerald City Supporters and the Sounders than soccer**********tyusa does.
No one, I repeat NO ONE, talks about us more than the Cinder Scouts. It's a compliment we have come to expect and enjoy.
And leader of the non-stop parade of coverage we get is one Finnegan, and several equally jealous sidekicks.
What further proof could one need? It's actions that speak louder than words. We are continually mentioned by these people. Good, bad indifferent, who cares? Their world revolves around *hating us.* As for them? We see them as new kids on the block...cute, naive, precious.
The scarves are a GREAT example. Thanks for bringing them up. We don't check to see what P*rtland has done before we act. We do our own thing. Once Seattle has chosen to do something...then P*rtland is always the lesser. It's a Northwest tradition which no number count will ever overcome. Sorry, guys.
"Seattle this, Seattle that." We practically feel let down when our every move isn't chronicled by the obviously far-more enlightened fans to the South.
Someday, when they have watched their (continually choking) team play as many seasons as Seattle fans have watched (NASL:10, USL:11, WPSL:7) then we might even think they have some merit in their comments. Right now, though, the non-stop banter they provide about all things Seattle is just sad proof of an ongoing inferiority complex...one that continues to blur their eyesight about even their own team...and each other.

And you chose the name "Timbers."
How nice of you to (again) think of us.

Wow, that was quite a rant, but as usual, I can give back a little too:
First NW pro soccer club to wear green: Seattle Sounders
First club to give up green in favor of most of the colors of the rainbow too, for how many years. Didn't go back to green until 2003.
First pro soccer fans/booster club in NW USA: Seattle Sounders Booster Club
Good for you. And still growing I see.
First Supporters Scarves: Sounders Supporters, 1997.
How many so far? We have 900
First club to defeat BOTH P*rtscum and Vancouver in playoffs, same season: Seattle Sounders
That was also the FIRST time the Sounders had EVER defeated Portland in the playoffs. Portland won in 1975, the FIRST time the teams met in the playoffs.
First group of fans to realize P*rtland wannabees are just mesmerized by their own reflections, and don't really focus on their team: Well, most of the USL. It's getting to be a joke.
Whatever that means.
Most posts about us: Well. it is close, but I do believe that SounderCentral.com has *a few* more posts about the Emerald City Supporters and the Sounders than soccer**********tyusa does.
But not by many. :)
No one, I repeat NO ONE, talks about us more than the Cinder Scouts. It's a compliment we have come to expect and enjoy.
Just giving back what we get.
And leader of the non-stop parade of coverage we get is one Finnegan, and several equally jealous sidekicks.
Jealous is not exactly the first word that comes to mind.

From your own board:
"Try these. I think I've come up with an answer for "No Pity." How about Seattle..."No Equal." "
http://soundercentral.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=1822
Notice how I kept it from getting personal? And not a single slur in my entire post.
Imagine that.

Thanks for thinking about Seattle again! AND, posting!
If you'd like to go read more...you'll see that I SAID we chose that just to make fun of the stupid wannabee aggro "No Pity."
http://soundercentral.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=2235
Then we voted for real, and enough people (all seven or eight of us) liked it enough on it's own to adopt it.
I, however, will always joy in thinking it's a slam on PTFC.
When are you sad sacks gonna get it?
Seattle does EVERYTHING before PDX, even when it doesn't!

He HE :D Glad I got such a response. The more you yap the better it gets.
Listen man, while you may enjoy criticizing us this past two years, and especially this year, you have started emulating exactly everything we do down here. Immitation is the sincercest form of flattery and we hope you continue to copy us because maybe then we will get a decent rivarly going.
As for the scarves - for chrissakes man open your eyes and take a look at them. Sure we didn't invent hoops but my god, the phrasing, style everything is identical. Again, I don't blame you cause we have sold 700 of those scarves so I would want to immitate them also.
As for us focusing on you guys...
1) It's a rivalry and you make just as much fun of us except the same three of you are posting in a cybe circle jerk so no one notices when you do on your own board, it pops up here on BigSoccer we like to respond.
2) You may not realize this when you only have 5 members but you see we have lots and lots of different people and different folks in a supporters club have different focuses and interests. Because there are so many of us it IS possible to make massive fun of how pathetic you guys are WHILE at the same time continuing to promote the Timbers and grow the Timbers Army.

The design similarity wasn't, as far as I know, done on purpose ( tried to keep my little paws out of the scarf design thing). But, I'm glad you think it was. ;)

Also note:
The biggest "traditional rival" of the Sounders are the Vancouver Whitecaps/86ers/Whitecaps. We have a much longer history together. Both see PDX as still trying to "make it" with the big boys.
You almost had it last season, as a Cascadia Cup victory, a series win over Seattle, and perhaps a duel with Vancouver would have pushed your club into more prominence in the area.
Since all of that slipped away, you remain the third most important club, historically, to other fans in Cascadia.
If you can build on the two wins at Qwest in 2005, and the away win in Vancouver....then perhaps some minds will begin to change.

A most interesting read.
Your scarf is pretty. Posh, some might say.
Maybe for your next slogan you can choose "less than" or "greater than". You could get some nifty symbols on the scarf too.
I like math.

Am I the only one who finds it slightly odd that you brag about how much longer you guys have been around yet our Timbers Army bowling team is bigger then your entire freaking section?
Apples to Apples my friend. What have you guys one since the Timbers have been in the league?
What's that? ******** all? Thought so.
Comparing winning a championship today to winning in a 6 team league is jus asinine and you know it.

At least we CAN compare.
Now kindly stick to the subject here...which is how much you continue to think about the Sounders. The bigger your group gets...the more people from P*rtland will be around to...keep thinking about the Sounders.
Do I hear "The Circle of Life" playing somewhere?
The size of a supporters group is your obsession, not mine. I just run a website. The ECS is intentionally leaderless. Wanna join?

I just run a website.
Not very well, apparently.
Is mine a lifetime ban in your leaderless, welcoming club? Or do I apply for reinstatement after a year of penance and housepainting?
Good grief.

Nah. You wouldn't like my moderator style. Very loose. I certainly wouldn't pull the plug on guys like me.
ECS asked for our input a few months back. We gave it. Clearly, with a tongue in cheek occasionally, but trying to be constructive. Most of US understood that a healthy rivalry between our clubs and supporters groups would be GOOD for the sport. Every TA person I talked to responded the same way; "I hope they can grow", "It would be great to have big supporters groups on both sides."
But apparently you don't want that. Perhaps the others in ECS should look to see if what they want to build is in line with your thinking.
