Id have to go for the american football.
Too much padding to make it a mans sport in rugby most of the time all they wear is a cup and a gum shield.
Rugby players can go out the night before a match get so drunk they carnt walk abd the next day still turn up get leveled get up run half the field and take out another man to get the ball back. sometimes they do this while having sufferd broken bones or being concused. Now that is a true mans sport.
One last question though why was it ever called football when the use of hands is keenly accepred by those who play and watch it.

Three posts and you're already knocking us English..:)
No! The real difference in the games is that it takes
"THREE FREEKIN' HOURS" to watch these overstuffed 'athletes?' play just one AF game. BOOrringgg!
That takes "TWO HOURS" of valuable pub time away.
80 minutes of rugby has 80 minutes of action. 3 hours of AF might! have 5 minutes 'per player on the field.'
Remember that they play with 2 teams per side and subs for each attacking and defensive team.
Their sub bench is bigger than most MLS games supporters..:)

Rugby union is good ,but rugby league is mind-numbing.
I reckon that American football players wouldn't last 20 minutes in a game of rugby.
Rugby is brutal and the players dont have the protection from helmets and full padding like the gridiron boys.
Would a gridiron player have the fitness to last 80 minutes in a rugby game??
Not f'cking likely.
In american football ,the fat c'nts who play it get a rest after virtually every play.
They do a quick play which might last about 15 seconds and then they go and have a sit down or take a breather.
I recall watching last years american football playoffs .the commentators made a big deal about one of the teams defence being on the field for a long time...I think they'd been on the field for a "massive" 30 minutes..oohhhhh

Well, American football is a joke, that much is clear. I was watching some commercials and then suddenly an NFL game broke out.
I've been watching rugby over the past couple of years on FSW, and I really like it, although I'm no expert. I must admit I do prefer the Union rules over the League--more different types of action, more strategy. It seems like there are fewer kicks and lineouts and less impressive scrums in League. Just saw the S.-Africa-New Zealand 3 nations match over the weekend--pretty cool. I also like the "All Blacks" uniforms.

Have you ever actually played American football? If you think they wear pads because they're girly you're almost as stupid as sinner_ronald_monk.

I've got a PHD in astro physics ,so Magoo must be very sharp.
American football is for woofters only.
I bet good money that you play the sport.
You're of those obese defensive players who needs to wear an oxygen mask after every play..
You're an overweight and disturbingly ugly defense man.

Playing American football actually made me a much better soccer player. The weight training really helped me increase my sprinting ability and my 1st step. There aren't many 6'3" 195lbs soccer players who can bench 250lbs. As a striker that strength and explosive power really added to my game. Soccer players could really benefit from a more taylored "bigger, faster, stronger" program that many American football teams use. Of course they wouldn't want to lift for bulk, so they'd have to taylor the work out.

I played it and played it well. I also played (and still do) soccer year around so no, I'm not overweight at all *lol*. Have you ever played American football? Should I be impressed by your degree? A lot of people are educated beyond their intelligence. All that tells me is that you know how to study. All I've ever seen you post is ignorant crap bashing other people/ideas.

have you ever played rugby?
its always fun when i get a pickup game of rugby going, and some guy who played football in high school, who thinks hes all tough, goes to ruck, and gets absolutly destroyed, and tries to call a timeout cause hes tired...
and you wouldve gotten the same weight training if you had played hockey or rugby (two sports wihch i think are more closely related, and therefore have more direct benifits to ones soccer game, if one plays a combonation of the three)

The only player in an american football team who has talent is the quarterback.
The only talent he needs is an accurate throw.
the rest of the teams are fat & untalented c'nts who simply run fast or get in the way of the other players who run fast.
You can hardly say that a fat defense man has talent .

*rolls on the floor laughing my ass off*
Ronnie, you are a moron. Obviously you've never even played American football, yet you continue to hold an extremely ignorant uninformed opinion. If you know nothing about a subject it's best to say nothing. Well, then I guess you'd have nothing to say about anything. Cornerbacks, Safetys, Running Backs, Flankers, etc...are all positions that require blazing speed, literal quickness, an explosive first step, and quick thinking. Those "fat" defensive men are pretty good too. You have to be a pretty damn good athlete to weigh over 300lbs, yet still run 40 meters in under 5 seconds. I bet you and 99% of bigsoccer posters can't run 40 meters in under 5 seconds.

You can hardly say that a fat defense man has talent . so does that mean there is no talent on a rugby team.
And actually, you have to be able to catch the ball in AF.
There are NO skill positions in Rugby.
Both types of players are pretty much monsters it's just that the Americans are smart enough to wear things on their heads so they don't look like retarded elephant men by their retirement.

Yeah, I've played rugby. It's great fun. I'm not bashing it at all. Just these morons who are bashing American football, yet have never even played the game.

Off topic: what's the difference between rugby league and union? I've only watched a few rugby matches in my life and they seem to be pretty entertaining. But to answer the original question there is a women's rugby team at my American college, but no women's American football team.

American football is a game of power and speed
Football (soccer) is a game of speed and endurance
Rugby is a game of power, speed, and endurance.
All are great games with quite different attributes. I don't understand the need to compare them. Most people who compare them talk out of their arse anyway. Just enjoy them for what they are.

Alot of people who play american football run track. So the players are in shape.
If you want to see something disgusting, watch a bunch of red faced overweight Europeans running around in tight ugly uniforms. These men are all short and look like sausages on skinny legs.
Women play rugby if that is what you wanted to know.
If you are asking if women finds either player attractive; then as a woman I would go for the American football player.
There is alot of different sizes in American football. I love most of them.
