Matt Reis has retired to pursue his love of performing arts. Unless this was an April Fool's Joke (it was on MLSNet, and I don't the marks of Don "The Prankster" Garber on this), Dougie should be #1.

Well if it actually was true he would have a shot at his first ever MLS win, no? Never got one with us.

It's an even funnier joke with the picture:

Yup, it came from Soccer America, linked from MLSNet. MLSNet took the link down.

Shouldn't this be in the "alumni" forum?

This should be in the April Fools Forum. The Revs had a quite a signin last year on 4/1. I knew they wouldn't disappoint this year.

Either they were in on it or Soccer America totally fell for this joke as they reported it on their website and e-mail.

If I head first read it on BS or the Revs site, I think I would have seen this was a prank - especially with the pic of Reiss looking like Tobias Funke - but seeing it first on Soccer America, allegedly a jounalistic site, I assumed - naively - it was true.

:D

That's the first thing I thought of too!

Not quite as classic as the infamous Mejido/Payne doozie of a few years back, but the thought of anyone going into 'experimental music and performance art" as a profession on 4/1 has to be questioned.

I doubt that MLSnet was in on the joke and got taken. I admit to have bought it at least in part for a few minutes.
