The Associated Press announced today that the Portland Timbers of the USL First Division signed Dutch midfielder Luis Van Belle.
Lured out of a three year retirement, the veteran midfielder who once played with AC Milan, Barcelona and Genk of the Belgian League expects to be match fit by the end of the month.
"I'm not 90 minute fit right now, but I'm in good shape and I believe I can add quite a lot to the Timbers this season. I'm looking forward to playing in America as soon as my papers are processed."
Timber officials have made no comment.
