Greece pretty much made sure no non-Greek fans came. I guess there will be some FIFA action.

I know. If the USSF were ever that stupid, they deserve to be fired. It was just interesting in regards to the large immigrant base of fans in the U.S. and how they travel.

I think it would be kind of stupid to shut out all the immigrants. considering we are a country of immigrants. I don't generally mind what happened in B'Ham. I don't think they neccasarily rooted against us as much as they cheered for their own side. I mean I don't think I heard a single non-ref related boo in that entire match. Everyone should embrace their roots.

But Greeks and Albanians together??? - I'm not so sure the Greeks weren't smart to do that.
And I don't see how that applies to the USA - heck, we hold our games against Mexico in Houston, for crying out loud! Of course, the WCQ was held in Columbus, which was cold and doesn't have a large Hispanic population, but no one withheld tickets from anyone. For the most part, we're happy to sell tickets, period.

Albania didn't seem to have a problem with it.

Wasn't there a problem last qualifying cycle with the game at RFK versus Honduras. I seem to remember complaints that they weren't selling tickets to people from Honduras. I don't remember exactly what the circumstances were, and the tactics clearly didn't work.

I believe the issue with honduras at rfk was the policy of tickets in the lower bowl....

Yes, and unless it has been quietly resolved, the case is still in the federal court system.

Interesting, I didn't know that. I withdraw my earlier post. ;^)

The USSF would not want to try it IMO. Away supporters usually at least double the size of the crowd for US home matches. As long as they pay their money who cares.

As always, the issue isn't the fact that 10-15,000 Guats found their way to Birmingham, it's that somehow only 10-15,000 Americans found their way too.

That is suprising. I wouldn't think you could sue for selling selected tickets to other team's soccer fans. The Welsh sure didn't get the best seats in San Siro, nor does any team for that matter. They get the tickets the Federations makes available. In San Siro, it has until the last game been the section DIRECTLY under the Ultras. You don't have to have a PhD in physics to realize the implications of that.
One could argue putting the visiting team's fans above the home team would prevent problems. This was the solution the Italian Federation came to when they played host to Scotland last week.
But then again this is America and even the most recent arrivals can learn tp avail themselves of an abogado at the drop of a hat.
