what team does the 4th concacaf team play vs asia? do you think it will almost be a sure thing for the 4th spot team to qualify to the WC?

My best guess is that it will be Kuwait, and I think that the 4th concacaf team will win.

3rd from group A plays the 3rd of group B, whoever wins plays the 4th of Concacaf
I just hope not to see a CR-Kuwait series....i dont want wake up at 3 am to watch a game!

id say w/e it takes to get to the world cup. And also is kuwait a good team ..whats there ranking?

I just pray it isn't a Guatemala-Bahrain playoff ... the amount of diving, flopping and grass rolling would be mind-blowing.
Given Bahrain's defensive record, there probably wouldn't be more than a goal or two either way, as well.

(Jamaica- 41, China- 57, Iraq- 45, Honduras- 50, T&T- 60 just to give a few more rankings. Also: Iran-20, Saudi Arabia- 30, Japan-18, South Korea- 22, Jordan- 42, Oman-57, Qatar- 68, Cuba-60.)

Judging from what I've seen so far... it's most likely going to be Bahrain. Bahrain and Kuwait will probably play off for the wildcard spot and I think Bahrain should be able to beat Kuwait.

When is the CONCACAF/AFC playoff?
CONCACAF doesn't end until October 2005, right? AFC ends in August, but then I suppose they need to have their 3rd-place-playoff, right?
I think I remember seeing that the CONCACAF/AFC playoff is in December?
If that's the case, it would be funny to see USA as the 4th place team. I don't see a team like Kuwait or Bahrain doing very well against a USA team, playing in the dead of winter in Columbus, Chicago, or New England.

CONCACAF did not playoff with an Asian team last time around. CONCACAF only had three teams that automatically qualified. They just added the extra half place to each confederation. This will be the first time Asia and CONCACAF will play off for a place in the WC insince I can remember.

The AFC/CONCACAF playoff dates are November 12 and 16. The Asia playoff will probably use either the September or the October dates.

The 4th CONCACAF team has what it takes to get a result from either Bahrain or Kuwait, whereas, Bahrain might not be able to obtain a result from Panama, Guatemala, or Costa Rica.
Looking more and more like there will be four CONCACAF teams in Germany.

Five years from now might be a different story if FIFA approves the absorption of Oceania into AFC. Oceania's ½ spot will go to AFC and the new confederation will send five teams to the World Cup. One too many for that confederation, but I digress.
Anyway, unless CONCACAF teams perform well in Germany, CONCACAF's ½ spot will probably be matched up with CONMEBOL's ½ spot. What a match up that would be.
