Hooligans: Storm Over Europe (http://www.pcgamer.com/reviews/archives/reviews_nov02_hooligans.html)

I just picked up this game for three bucks at a Half Price Books. I know it's pretty damn despicable but I just had to buy it, if only to play once. Has anyone played it?

I played it.
Sort of like a Cr#ppy sims game except not as managable.
The movies are lame, play is bad.

Best thing about the game is the Songs sung during load times, made me want to continue just to hear the new Joke songs.

Loved the game, but it was a bit of a hassle to control at times. I think the game did bad or maybe just broke even because while it was a black attempt at comedy the extreme violent tone to it overshadowed it.

Visiting the brothels for energy, getting chased by the cops for your loud raver music and getting silly drunk were all funny, but then the neccessity to kill cops, streetwalkers and non-violent opposing fans with hand grenades may have put a lot of gamers off. Perhaps the programmers should used a little more restraint.

They should of but I can see why they didn't. They were a small dutch company who were trying to compete in a super competitice industry. They didn't have a lot of promotion money and they knew this so the only way to get attention was to be outrageous. I can see that if they didn't get the 'shocking game to be sold' press they would probably never be heard of ever, but from the way this game isn't that well known anyways on bigsoccer and the company doesn't have a website anymore, the exposure didn't do them good anyways.

Questions that were left unresolved.

Why were all the hooligans white? Are the programmers implying something?

a 25 euro visit to the brothel? Is this a historical piece set in the mid '70s?

The final stage was sort of a let down. All that work and mayhem just so the cops can do your dirty work.

i downloaded a pirated version of it but only played it for 5 minutes. i would never put out money for crap like that even if it was only $3.

Played it two years ago, and wish I never would have. Crap game that is for sure.
