Frank Yallop was on Soccer Central yesterday and he said that Canada will either play Honduras or Nicaragua on July 1st.

The original rumour stated that the game would be played in Kingston, Ontario. I would certainly rather see Honduras, but a home friendly is a home friendly.

for sure ... although I'll be living abroad by then. also nice to see canada face some concacaf opposition, since they are the main opposition in any major competition we're in

A game against Canada would be a good opportunity for Nicaragua. I think they have only played a few teams outside of Central America (Bermuda and St Vincent)?

No point playing Nicaragua unless it is a B international team made up of A League players. Baseball is their game not soccer.

.... perhaps, but a warm-up game is a warm-up game. I would rather see Canada play Nicaragua then against no one a few weeks before the Gold Cup.

No disrespect to Nicaragua but I have to agree with BringBackTheBlizzard.
Canada needs to face a team of the sort of caliber that it will face in Gold Cup. Nicaragua doesn't meet that criteria. If Canada can't find an opponent that has recent Gold Cup experience or will be playing in this year's Gold CUp then it would almost be better for Canada to just play the Montreal Impact. It would be a lot cheaper for all involved and I think that they could beat Nicaragua. So if the point is just to look for a game, why not do that?

Perhaps they want to play a team that plays a Central American 'style'.

The problem is that Nicaragua's style reportedly isn't very "Central American". They still lag far behind their Central American neighbors. Of course, I'm basing everything on what I've read and been told. Because admittedly I've never even seen a game on TV let alone seen Nicaragua play in person.

CAN vs HON will be a good match, 2 teams that deserved better luck in the earlier round

Personally, I would love to see Canada play Honduras in Kingston, but I would by happy with Nicaragua.

I want Honduras. We need to avenge those Bull**** losts we suffered in the qualifiers and I hope we have a referee not from "that part of the world" as Craig Forrest would say :D
