just playing devils advocate here....I was pretty surprised to find out about the "mutual PIC" thing...

I mean everything you do for multiple seasons leads up to the World Cup in HT...and I'm surprised to hear manuevers like..."if you PIC, I'll PIC" are used at the top levels...

belgium trumped us, maybe their GM's a jerk but he moved on and we didnt...

It's actually more prevalent than you would think. I was surprised myself at how "mutual PICs" are given out on the NT levels.

Belgium is nothing more than a wannabe. And we all know how much they suck.

I mean everything you do for multiple seasons leads up to the World Cup in HT...and I'm surprised to hear manuevers like..."if you PIC, I'll PIC" are used at the top levels...It's an imperfect way of addressing the prisoner's dilemma -- the game was critical to both teams, so arguably they would both want to MOTS it. That would produce a similar outcome to if both PICed it, so they agree that both will PIC to that both can carry TS through. Of course, this relies on a combination of honesty from the national team managers and peer pressure through threats of what happens when a manager reneges to hold things together (setting aside the question of whether the system should work).

belgium trumped us, maybe their GM's a jerk but he moved on and we didnt...They still gotta win or draw vs. Italy. Our chances against Misr aren't all that great even if AE plays it straight up, which I don't think he's going to do. Plus, that situation basically forces Belgium to spend TS in that match, making it unlikely they will advance in the next round.

thats the part that is a bit ugly to me....I'm friendly with a couple guys in my division but we dont share TS strategy. A big part of the fun of HT is learing how to predict the pic/mots game. The whole collaboration thing seems shaky at best...

Somebody tried to get me to mutually PIC a match one time. He was much better than I was, and I couldn't figure out why he was telling me this. (I'm dense). So I MOTSed it, and won 2-1. He was pretty pissed.

I've been approached about a mutual PIC only once, like 8 seasons ago. I told him that I wouldn't do it, but that I wouldn't MOTS. However, I messed up my lineup and played a 2-6-2 and was lucky to pull out a 2-2 tie.

That's the only time in my history to this point where I messed up the lineup like that.......I wonder if it was karma or something?

Is there ever a time to NOT be annoyed at Italy?

According to Belgian and Italian HTers, I'm the worst manager ever.

Thank you.

I've been approached about a mutual PIC only once
:(
Before my massive Cupset over a DIV squad(Austin Hawkeyes) in the 2nd round of The Cup, I mailed him letting him know I was going to PIC and he was free to PIC himself without worry of me being sneaky. Well he responded sometihng like "Thanks, that's cool, but just go ahead and do whatever you want for the game this week." So, not knowing whether he'd PIC or not, I PIC'd as I expected to get killed and I think he went normal because his mid rating didn't raise much at all. I think he might have thought I was lying to him about the PIC hoping he would leave his guard down so I could MOTS --I wasn't!

Anyway, I won in penalty kicks after a 88th minute equalizer. :D

I've never been approached about a mutual PIC. I have been asked once about what I was going to do in a match, and I recall being noncommittal about it.
