I was reading junjun's post when I realized this week is PB United's 32nd in HT play - 2 full seasons. I know I've come a long way, but I wanted to see exactly how far. Feel free to post your own recent milestone, and how much you've improved overall or since you established a new goal/training regimine.

I hope this thread also shows some of the newbies that it simply takes a little time to be successful in Hattrick....time and lots of patience. I also want to thank all of the elders here on BigSoccer, for helping me grow so quickly with their great advice!

I'm well past 32 weeks. For me it's more like 49-50 weeks. Almost a full calander year playing the game.

It's messy, and I probably could have been a stronger team had I made a few choices differently, but overall I'm happy. I'm well aware of what my team's weaknesses are, but I'm confident I can solve most of them before the midway point of next season.

I can't wait until the 1st week of next season. I'm going to be gunning to buy my first 17yo solid GK. :D

My first week of Hattrick was in week 19.12. 72 rating, 19.0* (and I just noticed, Hatstats has updated old matches to the new ratings -- but it looks like either they messed something up, or they did it arithmatically rather than going back to the matches)

Those totals are misleading, though, because HT went to a new experience system in season 20. So with the hopped up experience in 20.01, Brays put up an 83 rating with 22.0* in a studly win on the road. :p

Our second season average (season 20) was 94.6 rating/25.5*. Our current average is 180.4/44.6*. Our second season anniversary (21.12 result) was a 117 rating on 30.5*. Our best league performance was a 194 rating on 46.5* last week.

Total Purchases: 17 203 602 US$
Total Sales: 16 782 011 US$
Difference: -421 591 US$
Number of transfers: 64

Average (bought): 688 144 US$
Average (sold): 430 308 US$
Average (bought + sold): -6 587 US$

Current squad value: 117,810 TSI ($11.781 MM old-style AV), with wages just shy of $60k/wk.

(Thank goodness for Foxtrick, or I would not have been able to get my old ratings and star totals so easily.)

Also, my first HT-related post on BigSoccer was #333 (cool!) in the now-locked original Hattrick Thread.

Asking a question I could now answer in my sleep. :p

my first post was number 446 in the old thread.
Starting my first full season out with a 3-1 win. Picked up a solid striker in the transfer market, and hope to avoid the qualifying game this year.

V.251

Yes, that used to be my team name. I didn't avoid the qualifier, I won it handily though. That first post came probalby 2 plus months after I joined. And finally, that solid striker is still with my team, he's now an excellent from a season of scoring training, and will be my teams coach in another 1-2 seasons.

Ahh memories

Technically my first HT post was registering my team, but I much prefer this one:
Ok, since it's become painfully obvious that I'm not going to scrape myself out of relegation to 6th division, I figure it's high time to perform a major shakeup of the team.

http://www9.hattrick.org/Common/tea...?UserID=1162569

As it stands I'll probably have to can most of the staff except for one or two training coaches, kill all funding for the youth squad, possibly give a few players the pink slip, and hope for better times next season.

Fun!

Good thread, wondering where you found these valuations though, couldn't find old valuations through HBuddy or HT supporters stats.

The one thing I would change if I started over would be not doing defender training, there's just no love in the match engine for teams with 5 defender formations. So I'm in transition to PM training. The inad defenders I started with are now being sold off as they pop to formidable.

I got mine from buddy, you have to go to the online drop down menu like you are downloading stats there will be a download old matches, click on that, a calender should come up that asks you how far you wanna go back, I went back to my first game and got all the matches my team has ever played in the system.

Yeah, I have the all my matches downloaded into HB, but I was referring to the value's Stogey was referring to:

"Transfer Price Evaluation

I know the current values but didnt know where the week 1 values came from.

Not true, I lost to a very good defensive team in the cup. 1-0

Granted, getting started-right out of the gates, defense is unrewarding.

I'm sure the CA works, I just havent had any luck with it whatsoever. I've had many WTF matches against me, while I can't remember one in my favor. HT really seems to be all about the midfield even with their adjustments in the past couple seasons. Examples:

36872663 - My defense is much stronger than opp attack and possession is close to even, yet i barely squeak by with a 2-1 win while opp creates more chances.

36872653 - Possession is close, attack to defense ratings favor my team, yet i lose 3-0 with 5-1 in chances created (while opp used pressing)

29194781 - Control mid and attack to defense ratings greatly favor my team, yet lose 2-1

29194774 - Same as above, control mid and attack to def ratings very much in my favor, loss again 1-0

Several others that were close matches and still thought I had advantage yet lost them all. Only success has been against really crap teams, which, thankfully there is plenty of in DVI. So in 8-10 out of roughly 28 matches I've played that were close games I've lost all of them. Only difference is all my opp. had 4 or fewer defender formations.

On the upside, I've created millions in value in the defenders I've trained, making the switch to PM training pretty easy.

Cobbled together the first match I played in each season, makes for an interesting little way to show team growth.

This thread helps me realize that I'm in the same boat that all newbies are. Quick Question, however:

It's obvious that I am taking over an old team that was abandoned (and they really sucked, by looking at the previous match scores). Is it sort of a mixed bag as to whether or not the team you receive is good or bad, relatively speaking?

its just different levels of bad. all new teams suck. some may just get a player thats a little more marketable at first. the team as a whole will suck though. have you decided what to train?
