Possible Lineup
The only "sure thing" is the GK.
4-2-1-3
***********Pato************
Zanetti**Ayala**Heinze**Placente
*****Mascherano****Sorin*****
**********Riquelme**********
Saviola**************Palacio**
**********Crespo***********
This lineup mimics the one they used in practice earlier.
TyC reported that Sorin may not play.
Palacio may not start.
And the back four would probably not be a "real" back four, where Zanetti will assume more of a midfield role, as the game dictates. This is especially so since Colombia only uses one forward and one "media-punta".
Somehow, I see Palacio on the bench and LuchoGonazalez taking his place, to Riquelme's right of course.
Why not?

I would rather see Lux or Franco in the goal than El Pato.

I rather see Lux.. Anyone see that first Goal we received against Pachuca? That was all Pato... El Primer Palo es tuyo..

What I meant by "sure thing" is in reference to who Pekerman confirmed. He only confirmed Pato in the goal.
No way I would prefer Franco over Pato. Lux is an excellent alternative...but his biggest drawback is the fact he's at River. If Costanzo leaves or if Lux can see more game time, he has a shot...in the future.
I believe that Pato is the GK the seleccion needs. He's not perfect. Which player is? He exudes confidence, has the experience, is at the right age, and is passing through an excellent time at his club level. I have noticed that he's recently had some trouble with his drop-kicks (excluding Bolivia..where it's hard to measure)..although it's getting better. He needs to get back to the level he was when Boca played Milan and his delivery was excellent.

didnt you know angel is injured? plus angel has been horrible for the colombia nt as of late hasnt scored one goal in the wcqs I beleive there are colombian defenders with more goals than him
either way im betting on a colombian upset in argentina colombia needs this victory to qaulify and argentina doesnt
not to mention colombia has the best defense and goalie in south america if they play for a tie they can get a tie
for this game they need to play like greece..its not pretty but thats the only way to qaulify at 3 points away from home at argentina can mean life or death in these qaulifiers

yea, Angel is injured again, seems like he twisted an ankle the other day, but some reports say its his knee again, so don't know.....Angel has been pretty poor in the last games for the NT, but he opens spaces in the opposing defense, that's why the mids could score relatively easy when he was playing, against Peru, the whole defense would follow him, leaving wide open spaces for Totono and Oviedo to score the two goals back then, He did score the tying goal against Brazil, then they score on us again, and Argentina in Barranquilla, we need the win, but Reynaldo is too afraid to lose, I don't care (well I do) if we loose, but I wan't to go down with guns blazing, haha. I wish we could play more offensive tho.

colombia doesnt have mature offensive players to be able to play offensively
your defenders are better offensively then your own forwards

yea and that sucks, cause we're probably the only team in the world without true forwards that can make an impact on the game, but that's been in our culture, since maturana we have focused on playing pretty, having great keepers and that 'silky touch' on the ball, it was just a plus that Rincon (a midfielder) played more like a forward, and then el tino came along......we need another tino.

It's too bad that Angel is injured. How long is he out? Even if for whatever reason he hasn't performed to his potential for the national team, he is still a proven scorer and the best option for Colombia.
But I'm more interested to see how Riquelme and our forwards are able to solve the tough Colombian defensive puzzle. That is the key to the game.
Unfortunately I can't watch today, I got some crap going on at work this afternoon that I just can't miss. Hopefully they will show the match on tape delay this weekend.
