I got to know hattrick through bigsoccer. My first ever post was:

Dang... didnt think in a million years that 3-6-1 would be considered "incomprehensible" formation.

Anyway, my youth squad is considered
"inadequate" right now. Is there any point trying to promote a player from the youth squad?

Initial members when i joined the hattrick community included, AA Gunner, Arsenal Texans, Craig P, Kuhnscoot, kopitienkc, Lonestar, Kevin in LA and MLS Superstr3. (plus some others i dont see here anymore). If it wasn't for them, i'd probably still be training passing or something. They showed me how training worked, not to play 3-6-1, and to make youth pulls every week.

Now, two of my adopted children have matured into supernatural playmakers after training them for 15 months. I sit comfortably in D4 (at least this season) and should have no problem after powering up my team after selling off my children.

I just want to say thank you to those who showed me how to play hattrick and those who make this community so fun!!

Well I'm glad I could help someone, cause I sure haven't helped myself that much. While my team has improved, I'm still in the same division V series that I started in almost 2 years ago.:D

Oh well, I think I am finally to the point where I should be challenging to promote with my team hopefully.

Yeah, but now all that advice is worthless and I'm still in the same V series.... Training passing is a good idea nowadays. Well, maybe just a better idea than back then, LOL.

Hope to find some way to join you in IV this next season.

When I started in on Hattrick, Elwood was still around.

(He's still around on HT, of course, but hadn't posted here in quite a while last I checked.)

(Whaddaya know, he posted for the first time since '03 in a GolTV thread a few days ago.)

I'd love to make it up to Div IV, but I'm pretty sure I'd get beaten like a red-headed stepchild up there.

I've certainly enjoyed the time I've spent here and on Hattrick. I haven't really done that well so far, but I'm getting a better team (slow and steady wins the race, I hope) and I like to think that I'm a pretty good manager (I am number 53 in the USA in the Hattrick stud rankings).

I joined Hattrick in January of 2004, becasue of the old hattrick thread. In fact, that was the thread that got me to stop lurking on the boards and start posting.

First game hatstats rating: 68
First friendly: 0-2 loss to Daverules FC

Best (non-MOTS) hatstats rating: 129
Average Rating (this season): 122.1

I did three straight MOTSes at the end of the first season (last two games and the qually) to stay up in D.V. Haven't looked back since (although this season is a little dicey).
