Looking at David Beckham's unconvincing performance since the last world cup, he should've been dropped by Eriksson.but the old man is still keen on playing Becks, which is one thing that annoys me very much. i mean, what has he contributed to England so far since the last world cup other than missing a couple of penalties and giving possession away easily in midfield?i suggest that Eriksson should take an eye-check or something. it's not that England doesnt have any other potential players to take Beck's place on the right hand side of midfield.Wright-phillips or even wayne bridge is a good choice. at least they got pace. So what if Beck's a superstar or captain of England? i believe any other players in the squad has the potential to take the captain's armband...and as for free-kicks,Gerrard/Lampard can take them.

Beckham has been very poor, dyer came on and created two great chances beckham didnt do much all game, then again gerrard is'nt that great for england and was poorer than beckham on saturday.
Enlgnad have players who could be great captains like terry, campbell, rio and have all been captains at club level.

Even though Becks has been going through a year long slump I still think it will be a sad day when he is no longer available for selection.
I hope he can turn it around and get back to his old form .He was rediscovering some of his old sparkle at the start of the season but then he picked up that rib injury and it was downhill after that.

To be fair to Beckham his form is starting to pick up latley and is starting to play better. You also have to look how much of a leader he is to the team. So hopefully Beckham form will continue for a long time now :)

you can't really judge his performances in RM when he is playing out of position. He is actually adjusting to center midfield pretty well...
on the national team, he is ok...there are far worse players than him...like Lampard

That sir did not make sense at all because Lampard is as good if not better than your precious Gerrard. Beckham should not be dropped because he is a leader to the team, his set pieces are deadlier than anyone else on the team (he almost scored on saturday) and now he has learned how to defend and can be an excellent asset to the England squad. Removing him of his captaincy and starting role will decrease his confidence and Beckham will fade faster than a Kelly Clarkson song.

You obviously must have some personal hatred for lampard as he is far better than gerrard at international level.

I really think Beckham is a great football player. One of his problems is that he's playing on a position he's not best at in a team that doesn´t agree with him. Everyone has to agree that since he joined RM he dropped in quality. I'm convinced that the problem with RM is that if the team is not playing well, the referees fix their games for them; as a result the players become plain lazy!!! What Beckham has to do is to move out from the comfort of Real Madrid to a better team and get in shape.!!! ;)

in RM beckham has to defend too much...he can't be on offense with his skills...the RM defenders are way too weak.
THat lazy ass ronaldo doesn't even go help defend when players like raul are back there...
even strikers like rooney helps defend...
