Hey, so who has plans to hit up Germany for the World Cup? I'm in Toronto and with a few friends was interested in getting some tickets for a few games -- without any friends in Germany I'd need to sort things out for myself, though. Does anyone know of any travel packages or the like that are specializing in accomodation for foreigners to the World Cup? I'd google it but frankly, I'd much rather trust the experiences of BS posters and what they may have heard works and doesn't work.

Thanks,
Scott

I'm sure there'll be plenty of travel packages for the world cup. They'll be run by people whose business motto is "a fool and his money are easily parted". Some will be legitimate rip-offs, while others will be pure fraud and will go "bankrupt" on the eve of the tournament, by which time the owners will have cashed the money and retired to Barbados.

Booking hotels and flights via the internet is easy these days, even if it won't be as cheap as a traditional package deal. As there are no transatlantic charter flights, nor any way to stay in block-booked hotels, there will be no traditional package deal option.

Travel is easiest by train. www.bahn.de allows you to choose train times, and I think also book tickets (but it's a tad early for that yet).

Buying tickets in advance is highly recommended. See the FIFA.com pages for ticket information.

This thread here deals with most of the questions raised, several times.
