The current lead story on SounderCentral.com features links to information about the 25 invited players who are in Seattle right now hoping to earn a spot on the club's 2005 roster.

Notes:

*2 of the players are from Costa Rica: Franklin Chacon & Marvin Chinchilla.
*The son of famous NASL Sounder and Chelsea midfielder Alan Hudson, ANTHONY HUDSON, is among the invitees.
*Justin Stoddard, a rising star in the laste 90's is trying to come all the way back from surgery.
*Players from colleges around the country as well as pro combine sites are here this weekend for the sessions.
*The players are predominantly on offense, and there is an unusual amount of natural "left-footers" in the group.
*The Sounders will begin signing guys they like as early as next week, though announcements may come later.
*With only 12 signed players right now, the Sounders have a chance to get younger with this new crop.

USL Sounders coverage in the Seattle Times...

Two players — 19-year-old Franklin Chacon and veteran Marvin Chinchilla — who Hanauer discovered on his trip to Costa Rica are taking part in tryouts now. Chacon, a forward, played on the Costa Rican U-20 team Club Sport Herediano and Chinchilla played for Costa Rican club Liberia.

"I have some good contacts now in Costa Rica, and I've nurtured those contacts," Hanauer said. "There's a lot of good players in the Costa Rican first division. Their level of play is slightly higher than MLS."

Would love to be kept abreast of this Hudson fellow. Yanks Abroad obscurists (like myself) have been trying to track him down for years.

Alan Hudson? He's a Brit.
We are tracking his latest here:

As for his son Anthony...we haven't been able to find a thing on the net. Don't know if he was born while Alan played in Seattle, has dual citizenship, or what. The search for info on the son continues...

Gotcha. Do you know *anything* about him? I haven't a clue other than his lineage...
