Saw this this morning on the Forever Charlton website. The London Times has dropped a hint the Anshutz Entertainment Group may be interested in buying Charlton Athletic:

Mr Leiweke said there was no plan to buy live entertainment companies in Europe, but did not rule out adding a Premiership football club. He said he was based “mostly in London” while AEG works on the Dome, which he described as “Mr Anschutz’s largest ever single investment”. As a part-time Londoner he has developed an affinity for Chelsea and Arsenal football clubs and has “a lot of respect for Charlton”.

Here is the link to the whole article:

I now know how United fans feel about having an American takeover their club. AEG can't seem to get MLS right. They certainly don't need to screw up a Premiership club like ours.

Well, they have gotten some things right -- San Jose Earthquakes. That may have been dumb luck with Landon Donovan and Frank Yallop involved. They have won only one MLS Cup with their flagship MLS franchise, the gaLAxy.

I would prefer they don't get involved in the EPL, especially with Charlton. Things are going well for us. And we will continue to grow. I'm afraid AEG would just mess it up.

Mixed feelings over this. I think that AEG and all american investors should put their money into American soccer first. But I do understand the arguement that it is not a money maker in the US.

AEG was the financier/organizer of the millenium dome project just a couple miles from the valley.. so they are familiar with the area

....and.....Charlton has made an investment in the USA with their academy opening in Arizona soon. Could be a scratch-my-back situation?
