I thought perhaps some of the coaches on this board have experience coaching very young children and might be able to offer some advice.
My three year old niece wants - as she puts it - "a soccer ball goal with a net." She has a twin brother, my nephew, but he's not so interested. (Hey, I tried, but what can you do?) Anyway, I've already given them a bunch of size one soccer balls, and now I think I'm going to get them a mini-soccer goal for their backyard.
This is the one I'm thinking of getting. (http://www.farmgoodsforkids.com/ip-g02112.html)
It's cheap, and it's inflateble. So my often reckless nephew probably won't kill himself running into it or tipping it over, and if they do destroy it, then no big deal. And it has a net so my niece will be happy.
Does this look good? Are there others out there about the same size that I ought to consider.
Oh, and when should I get them a bigger ball?
Thanks for your help!

Looks pretty good, have you thought about getting them a hockey goal, theyre usually made out of pvc, so it may not hurt them if it falls on them, but itll be a bit more stable, and harder to knock over.

Hey, that's an idea. I'll have to look into that.

Great goals for youth and you get 2 of them so you could actually set up a small game with them in the backyard.

I don't know, I wouldn't go with the inflatable one. My son was given one, it lasted all of one day before it was punctured - My son was 4 at the time.
The pop-up goals are pretty nice, especially the one mentioned in the previous post.
Also checkout AYSO Store (Score) (http://www.aysostore.com/). They have a pretty decent pop net for a pretty decent price right now.

They also have Fisher-Price style packages at Target that include a cheezy ball, a goal and a pair of cheezy keeper gloves. May suffice for a 3 y.o. and be useable inside and outside.

The good thing about the Pop up style goals is they are useful even after the kid grows up. My rec team uses them all the time in practice when we don't have a full goal available to us.
