Why is the Open Cup Final on Thurs. night and not on a weekend? Was this done for TV? Is it even on TV?

I would love to go, but making to trip to Columbus and back from Detroit and then going to work on Fri. is not appealing.

One would think that a Sat. date would be a better draw. Did the Crew have a choice?

The yearly quarter horse convention is going on once again in Columbus at that time. Hence, the Fairgrounds will be booked that weekend, so Thursday is the best option. The match will be on Fox Sports World.

But listen, I went from Eastern Michigan University to Columbus Crew Stadium for both the US-Costa Rica and US-Mexico qualifiers back when I was in college. THEN, I was up at 4 the next morning to get in uniform for ROTC classes.

You can get from Detroit to CCS easily in 3 hours. The Open Cup final starts at 7 PM, so it'll be over at 9, and you can be home and in bed no later than 12:30 or 1 AM. Plenty of time for sleep and dreams of the Crew holding the cup aloft.

Don't kill yourself, but it's easily doable.

The AQHA Quarterhorse Congress, the largest single-breed horse show in the world, began on October 7 and runs continuously through October 27. All day, every day.

Weekend crowds are no bigger than weekday crowds, as the participants come from all over the country and the world and thus are not simply day visitors. Weekend crowds are not noticeably bigger than weekday crowds. The lots are full for the entire run.

Congress does not conflict with the match any less on Thursday than it would on Saturday. There has to be another explanation.

Soccer ousted for a horse show, thats when you know your country has no love for your sport.
