I see there are reports that Eriksson wants Paul Scholes to come out of International retirement, would you like him to come back for us? Personally i would be delighted, he imo is our most gifted midfielder his vision and passing ability is of a higher standard than that of Gerrard or Lampard, who i admire greatly as players particularly Gerrard, but both have a tendency to give the ball away carelessly with over ambitious passes.Eriksson must find a tactic if Scholes comes back to utilise his ability to the full,he totally wasted him when he was last available for England.I love watching the play of Scholes and Rooney for Utd,they are developing a great understanding which i thought looked very promising at Euro 2004 and would like them to be reunited for England, with the two of them playing withdrawn roles behind the striker.

No. Not cos hes not a great player because he quite clearly is and not because im a Liverpool fan but because Sven would play him Gerrard and Lampard in the same team and it just doesnt work!

I mean I dont think Lampard and Gerrard in the same side works unless you have a holding midfielder in there as well.

Also Scholes made the decision to leave his country and thats not an easy decision to make I think he realised exactly what I just said and also he wanted to prolongue his career at United.

Scholes' form for England wasn't to good torwards the latter part of his international career. Lampard and Gerrard is probably the best central midfielder duo that England has and both guys are pretty young, it would probably be beneficial for them to develop some sort of chemistry.

That being said Scholes isn't a bad player to have on the bench to throw on if England is down a goal. Scolari kind of did the same thing with Rui Costa towards the end of Euro 2004, instead of having him start he became sort of a super sub. Scholes could probably play that role if he's willing to come off the bench. With his skill, vision, and eye for goal he seems ideal to bring that instant offense that you need when your down 1-nil with 30 minutes to go.

Only if we played with a midfield like this.

-----------Gerrard

-----Lampard-----Scholes

SWP--------------------Downing

I don't like the idea of Stevie being restricted to the DM role, but if it helps us get the REAL Scholes back, then I wouldn't mind too much. If Erikscum isn't going to use him properly, then there's no point in bringing him back at all.

Stevie can't play as a DM and especially not at this level.

Which forward are you acrificing? Rooney or Owen? Or are you playing 3 in the back. if Downing can play at the international level that's a pretty solid midfield, It is a bit of a waste to play Gerrard in a DM role, but with Lampard and Scholes there's plenty of creativity in the midfield. I just don't think its smart to have either Rooney or Owen on the bench. Also if you have 3 in the back, Cole is on the bench, one of England's best players......

if scholes were to come back for the midfeilders i would have RM-Beckham, CM's-Gerrard and Scholes, and LM-Lampard...since i took J.Cole out of the midfeild line up i would make him a sub
