View Full Version : The New Arsenal

Today, we were again given insight into the future of this club. Though it wasn't a spectacular performance, you know the truth: Flamini, Fabregas, Senderos, Toure, v. Persie, Quincy, and Clichy are the foundation of the New Arsenal. This is a group of hungry, un-jaded (for now, at least) players with outstanding skill and intelligence.
I expect that this is going to be the busiest Arsenal have been in the transfer market in recent history.
Possible Exports:
Cole, Vieira, Reyes
The Board has stated that we have about 30 million to play with right now. If we sell any of the above players, the total may exceed 50 million. That's a lot of money for Arsenal. We all know what we need: 2 world-class central defenders, a world-class keeper, a really tough cental midfielder and a striker or two. Hopefully, we can keep Edu.
I expect Arsenal's starting line-up for next year's Charity Shield (wink) will have at least five different players compared to this year's.
In addition, I would like to see the board hire an assistant coach from the Continent who would act in a similar role that Carlos Quieroz does at Manchester United. I want someone who knows how to win in Europe and has enough pull to influence Arsene to change our tactics in the Champions League. The CL is the best competition in club soccer and I would really love it if Arsenal won it.
Overall, I think we'll be alright.

IMHO, we already have a world class central defender: Sol. I agree with you as the rest.

As a Liverpool fan I think Arsenal and Liverpool are the teams to watch for the future. It will take us longer as we are not in the privelleged position you are as regards to funds and the type of young talent you have.
People forget that there are big players missing and not performing for your side yet you are still in a FA cup semi surely soon to be final. Let the Chelski fans have there moment they have all the class of the new money side they are. Arsenal however are a joy to watch and a football team not a bussiness or a russian laudry.

Definitely. But Sol hasn't played a full season with us or Sp*rs AFAIK. We need backup.

We still need another backup, after we ship Cygan back to the French league.

why would we ship cygan back to france? he would RARELY play and no funds would have to be spent on a player that would never see the field

Senderos gets alot of injuries, Sol gets alot of injuries, Toure picks up the occasional ban, Cygan plays and we lose. See my thinking.

ehh, not so much... toure picks up the occasional ban?????? cygan has not played as badly as most of you lot think on these boards. he is a fringe player.. and plays like one. that is what your 4th string CB should play like.

We need an italian Assistant Coach. Someone to sort out our defence.

Well, Cygan sure has played alot this season, and the results haven't been good, remember Munich? I don't think he's that bad either but his presence seems to unsettle the rest of the defence, particularly Toure. Also what happens if Toure picks up an injury (or throws another elbow)? Defenders aren't that expensive, Arsenal can afford to carry 4 decent CBs, and Cygan should not be one of them.

Yes i agree with anti about Cygan, he's not that bad, but it seems like his teammates don't trust him. Something Ive noticed is that when he gets a run of a few games, he improves, but we need someone who can jump off the bench and do well in a spot start.

let me break this down~
next season... we have (new signing/campbell) then, if someone is injured or rested (we have toure)... THEN cygan in emergency situations.
Munich?????? cygan played FINE! toure gave away the two embarrasing goals...
go watch the match again dude, you'll see. cygan had nothing to do with it~
i know you think we have all this money to buy whomever, but we are not manyoo or chelsea.

I think he will fit that bill nicely, plus if he keeps improving he will take Sol's spot down the line.

Yes, from what I've seen, Senderos is quality and will only get better.
The Cyganator is an unreliable donkey that has no place in the 'New Arsenal'. Though he has performed well at times, tell me that you don't hold your breath every time he has the ball or a lob comes his way......

Pretty sad, when you stop to think about it?
Where are Adams, Dixon, Worthington, and Keown when you need them? LOL

Getting a spots degree, running a bar, trying to convince West Ham to let him play another year, and signed with Reading (I think he's still there). Why didn't you ask about Johnny Lukic or Bould?
