Tell Me about Walter Gaitan

I have been watching the Copa Libertadores on TV and I have been impressed with the play of Walter Gaitan. I understand he is from Argentina and that he once played for Boca Jr. What was his career like in Argentina and he is he viewed in Argentina? He is a wonderful player and he is named El Divino by those that support Tigres in Mexico. Did he ever play for Argentina?

Walter Gaitan is a player who was born in La Rioja, a poor province in the North of Argentina. He started playing in Rosario Central, where he showed some promise, and then spent two years in Spain. I think he came to Boca Juniors in the year 2000. His time in Boca was not very good. He was resisted by the fans, and I think the pressure got to his head. He was unable to earn the spot as the creative midfielder to replace Riquelme. But there was never doubt that he had talent. I don't think he ever played for the National team, but I could be wrong. I am glad he is doing well in Mexico.

(Ironically, right now Boca could use a player like him.)

they called him el chueco when he played in Argentina for Boca. Natural leftie. great player. A lot of resemblance with Riquelme in his way of play. It's true that he lived under the shadow of Riquelme. Bianchi sometimes tried starting the both of them, but Riquelme took the spotlight. And when Riquelme left, almost inmediately, Gaitan also left for Mexico to play for Tigres.
