Yes and no toronto will be awarded a team if certain requiremnts are met.A formal applaction has not yet been sent in that is the first step and then after that they has to make sure they have the stadium in place sponcership and the biggest they have to sell 10.000 season tickets witch is going to be hard to do.And they have to find a new home for the lynx ottawa/hamilton./quebec city are in the running.

Think you'll find Real Salt Lake only have 3100 season ticket holders right now.

Are you aware you have a pro team.

Given that I have paid to watch the Lynx yes I am aware of their existence. Why do you ask? Are the Lynx genuinely full-time pro in that the players don't need a second job to make ends meet and focus on soccer as their career or are they closer to the traditional Scandanavian semi-pro short summer season setup with the players holding other jobs outside the game during the winter. Think probably more the latter personally. MLS teams are active for close to 10 months out of 12 so it is much closer to a conventional European pro setup than the A League.

You really need to check things out.The lynx players are full time they don't have second jobs.Word comming out is seattle and philly will be awarded teams for 2007 looks like toronto is a lock for 2010.

Where is this 'word' coming from? Everything I've heard/read has pointed to Toronto as the overwhelming favourite for 2007.

That 2010 reference contradicts quotes from Don Garber as recently as this past weekend in the build-up to the season openers. The Lynx players train five days a week granted, but what they make during the summer is not enough to raise a family over the full 12 months of the year so the players that can be attracted are not necessarily all of the best players potentially available in southern Ontario. MLS would provide a significantly more attractive wage structure given the league salary cap of well over $CAN 2 million and that would enable a far stronger team to be assembled in a significantly more professional league that would be much more likely to sustain spectator interest.

What gerber said is toronto was possible for 2007 he did not grant a team to toronto. Both philly and seattle have increased there package big time alot better then the toronto bid.The mls is aslo looking at new policy that teams have to seel so many season tickets before they are officaly awarded a team. The question that is even been asked by high level soccer people in canada is well toronto fans brave the apr and then oct weather alot feel they won't hince won't sell the stadium out.And then you have ticket prices witch are not cheap so you going to lose alot of the fans from the lynx.

You should maybe tell the people on the Philadelphia expansion forum because they appear to be blissfully unaware that they are leading contenders or that they even have a potential credible I/O group right now:-

Are you sure you haven't fallen for some sort of April Fools Joke?
As for the weather angle if people show up in Columbus, OH there is no reason why they won't in TO. The Lynx would be no more a factor than the Xoggz were for Crew or the Foxes were for the Rapids.

Toronto will be in the next expansion for MLS. The Lynx have not done
the sport any real good in Toronto. The wins are few and far between
for the club and playoff spots even fewer.

Most MLS players have jobs in the off season. The pay isn't that great.

MLS players are active within soccer for about 10 months out of 12. That's a different scenario from the A League where the commitment is at most for 6 months and usually less. A League players are able to play soccer indoors in the MISL, while MLS players are not for that reason.
