The season premiere is later tonight, but let's have a recap....
when we last saw our fave L.A. vampire with a soul, he was drifting towards the bottom of the ocean. While Cordelia was being lifted towards the heavens for a new life as a higher being (with me frozen in my car, I might add! hee hee!) Wesley had been made an outcast, Lorne took off for a new career in Vegas and Fred and Gunn were left in the hotel all alone.
Discuss.

Oh yeah, this is definitely overtaking Buffy as the fave overall show.
Best line Angel referring to Buffy sending him to a hell dimension and comparing it to 3 months at the bottom of the ocean. (the continuity continues)
Second place: the last line of the ep with Cordy about being bored as a higher being.

Agree that those lines were pretty good (also funny was the running joke about Gunn trying to censor Fred's use of bro, dog, etc.), but the episode suffered from artificially extended storyline syndrome. Whatshername that killed Connor's stepdad and slit Wesley's throat should have been dead by the end of the episode, at Wesley's hand. She's being kept alive solely for plot options later.
The Wesley-Lila (? Wolfram and Hart lackey) connection is difficult to put up with, too. Why?
I even found the use of Connor's mythic/apocalyptic guilt burden as a mechanism for talking about teenage rebellion a little forced, and using fantastic story lines to put a new angle on the mundane is usually a Whedon strong suit.
Wow, I sound grouchy.

I enjoyed it, especially Lilah's hostile takeover.
However, Angel's speech to Connor was cringe worthy, until he ended by kicking him out. Don't care for any of the new hair either.

Something is up with that kid though. I think Gunn is onto something. He jumped out a 6th-floor window and didn't go splat.
yeah, I was hoping Wesley would sacrifice Justine to nurse Angel back to health. Of course....he did give her a choice at the end....maybe she'll fight for the good side against Wolfram and Hart.
Wesley and Lilah in bed together about made me puke!!! Cordy/Angel, though were close to bringing me to tears.

I was going to call you on this now that Spike has "the spark," but you did qualify it with "L.A."
Watched it on tape today. Right now, Wesley and Lilah (that really has an h?) are far and away the most interesting characters. Connor has some promise, too. And Fred finally stopped being such a wuss with the tazer.

yep....Lilah really has an H....that's how it's spelled in the script.
Fred is short for Winifred, I believe.
That's why I put the L.A.....Angel isn't the only one with a soul now.
I can't wait to see what happens between now and the ep that I'm in (ep 5...nov 3)

Wrong Angel, honey. Our Angel would rescue that Angel from the streets and probably get her back on the good track. He'd probably save her from a vampire or an evil pimp or something.

I really am liking Angel more right now. Especially when Angel pushed Conner down that was pretty nice.
Conner clearly isn't "Human". He can go out in the sun so he isn't a vampire. However, I think he has all of the power of his father. In other words, the quickness, the ability to jump out of six story buildings, strength, etc.
What they do with him from this point forward will be an interesting plot line.
I am somewhat sick of the judgement passed on Wes from Gunn and Fred.
The takeover at W and H was fantastic.
I love Lilah. Her having sex with Wes is awesome.
The line about the girlfriend who sent me to a hell dimension was classic.

it was also the way he delivered the line too.

Do not, under any circumstances, call me honey. Especially when you have no taste and no respect from the classics. I just figured you were very familiar with the storyline since you lived it and all.

sorry, HONEY, you must have me confused with someone else....never lived THAT life.

Why do I suddenly have the urge to post a pic of Punky Meadows?

Is it just me or is Fred getting the really great lines so far this season?
"It involves going to prison and becoming someone's bitch!" and her face was like so straight! I died laughing.
"please let my cell mate be gentle!"
That thing with Gunn would've been way freakier if I didn't already know about 3 episodes after that.
Screw Connor, let him sleep with the homeless till roaches crawl up his nose and breed.
Anyone catch the reference to the episode from 2 seasons ago with the shroud? or maybe it was last season.

I liked the electro girl character, and I liked that that they didn't seem to be setting her up for subsequent appearances. It would be very easy to seriously overuse a character like that.
15 minutes after it was over, I wished I was watching another Whedon show.

It's just you. Although the gangsta stuff last week was pretty funny.

How could you NOT catch that reference? It wasn't like it was all that subtle. What I liked was the sly nod to Buffy's death, with Angel thinking that Cordy is happy, and where she's supposed to be. Except that she's not. Makes you wonder if that's one of the things Buffy and Angel talked about when they met offscreen last season.

I guess this means everyone's back in LA now, or was the whole episode an excuse to use 'Viva Las Vegas'? Enjoyable, on the whole, but not as strong as the previous two.

I missed the show last night and sadly missed my weekly dose of Amy Acker. :(
