You're only going to be given 10million from the board the rest you will have to generate from selling players if you want to buy.

Make a list of players out and how much you expect to make off them and then add the £10million you will get from the board to bring players in. Who do you sell? How much do you think they are worth? Who do you buy? give an accurate/realistic price evaluation of those you bring in.

The choice is up to you. Go ahead :)

Creative thread. I'll even add the clubs likely to go after my departing players

PLAYERS OUT:
1) Roy Carroll - free (eventually joins Ipswich)
2) Quinton Fortune - 3 mil (to Charlton)
3) Phil Neville - 5 mil (to Newcastle)

PLAYERS IN:
1) Sebastian Frey - 7 mil from Parma
2) Shaun Wright-Phillips - 9 mil from the nearby slums
3) Antony Vanden Borre - 2 mil upfront and installments of 3m that further cripple the clubs finances!!!

That would be decent dealing, no?

Sell Saha for 10 million.
Now I've got 20.

Bring Rossi up and I'll gamble that either he, Ole, Bellion, or any of the other kids are ready to be the 4th striker.

Buy Essien for 15 million.

Sell Silvestre for 4 million.

Now I have 9 million left.

Sell Phil Neville for 1-2 million.

Now I have 11.

Buy Sebastian Frey for 6 million.

Now I have 5 million.

O'Shea/Brown compete for centre back pairing with Rio. Heinze can play in the middle at times and we bring in Spector for the left back as well. O'Shea can also slot in to cover Keane/Essien and we figure out a way to integrate Fletcher/Kleberson/Scholes into a central midifield combination.

Other options would include selling Klebs for 5 million, which would give me 10 million left, but I would need to re-invest that somehow into getting more cover for the left wing, and 10 million could buy a pretty good winger. SWP or Downing perhaps?

Out:
Saha - 8m
Silvestre - 6m
Fortune - 4m
Carroll - free

That brings the transfer kitty to 28m. Promote Rossi and Spector to get full bench time and play in as many first-team matches as possible.

In:
Essien - 15m
Frey - 7m
Rosicky - 6m

Essien is a must or a Keane replacement (10-15M) along with a keeper (7-10M). Out go Miller, Bellion, Saha, Ricardo and Caroll.

Sign a keeper in the 5M range. Let Carroll and Ricardo leave on a free transfer. Sign no one else, except some unknown winger from the Bundesliga for 500,000 to be a backup (I swear, I've read about some winger who has a minimum release clause of 500,000 and is at least decent...more on him later if I can dig up the article). Sign no else....pray that Essien will remain a Lyon player for one more season (Arsenal hopefully sign Emre or Jenas, Real Madrid cool off interest). We can try sign Essien in 2006, if he joins another big club, then plan B is to sign Gattuso.
That way, Saha and Kleberson are given a chance to prove themselves, hopefully without having injury problems. Miller can hang in there, because I don't see us getting much money for him anyway...unless he hands in a transfer request like Butt did (Miller is a longterm Butt replacement).
Hopefully by the summer of 2006 we will have a bigger transfer budget, and then we can sign a quality left winger and a Keane 'replacement'.

Yep. Thanks...that's the guy. I really haven't seen him play, but for 500,000 euros, he could turn out to be a bargain. And like I said, we could do with some cover on the wings, even if its a short term option (once Richardson and Eagles are ready, we could sell him). I'll try to find out more about him, but right now I really don't know how good he is.

Pounds, I guess.

Sell Saha (5MM), O'Shea (5MM) and Silvestre (2MM).

Use the funds (22MM total) to purchase a GK and a winger. Only purchase Essien if (1) he really wants to come to United and is not just inflating his price (see Little Ron) and (2) he would otherwise end up in London.

Keep Miller. He was free and he could become an acceptable squad player.
Keep Bellion. No one is going to buy him anyway and he's willing to work hard on the reserve team to improve.
Keep Kleb. We don't have any other players like him (in the positive sense).
Keep Fortune. Versatile squad player.
Keep P. Nev. SAF won't sell him anyway.

The players being sold are surplus and may be replaced by reserve team players (Rossi, Pique, Spector) or by players returning from injury (Ole).

Don't you think that instead of selling Saha for such a big loss it would be better to keep him? I also think we could get more than 2 million for Silvestre, if Boumsong was signed for 8 million. O'Shea is an incredibly versatile player, and I think that if two of our centrebacks are ever injured/suspended at the same time, it should be O'Shea providing cover. Also, I don't think Spector is mature enough to be cover for Heinze at leftback.

It would be better to keep Saha but the funds have to come from somewhere. As for the selling prices, I'm not sure if they are still too high. When was the last time United received "full value" for a player they sold?

That figured pretty heavily into my acceptable transfer fee estimates. Saha won't leave for less than 10 mil, etc.

Well, you'd hope so, but then after the humongous loss we took on Veron, its tough to say we won't sell unless the price is just right.

I'll asume I've got £10m.

Out - Whoever's not ready to fight for a spot
- Kleberson £4m (Corinthians)

In -
£500,000 for first dib rights on Theo Walcott (Saints)
£3m Niemi (Saints)
£5m Stillian Petrov (Celtic)
£3.75m Per Kroldrup (Udinese)

OR

£3m Niemi (Saints)
£11m Rafael Marquez (Barcelona)

JOS is verstile. But I think I'd buy JOS as midfielder before I'd buy into JOS as CB, especially replacing Silvestre. I think you folks are too quick in wanting to dump Silvestre. Just cuz the grass is in a different pasture doesn't mean it's any greener.

I'm not for selling Silvestre. I think we should keep him....I was just pointing out that if we do sell him, we could do so for more than 2m.

I'd trade Ruud, Rio and the 10M to the Chicago Fire for Kelly Gray and their 3rd round pick in the 2007 MLS Superdraft.

Sorry about that. You are correct. I didn't mean to imply that you were wanting to sell Silvestre.

Shouldn't part of the transfer budget include money for Jordan and few other scnatly clad groupies to lure the guys? :D :D
