View Full Version : Complete list of average attendance per team in Apertura 2002.
I did not want to start a new thread, but did not find a thread that this could be placed in.
I watched several games today of the Jornada 9 and was curious as to why there were so few fans in the stands at the stadiums.
I thought the whole idea of two short seasons instead of one long one, was to spark a greater interest from the fans in each and every match.
I know people in Mexico are soccer-mad, why then are the stands empty? Is it lack of interst? Is it economics? Is it that people are just watching the matches on tv?
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY RESPONSES.

Rain.. It has rained a lot the last 2 weeks in the central parts of Mexico.
2 weeks ago, Cruz Azul's pitch looked like a lake.
But the good thing about it....America always draws draws a crowd when they are on the road. Anywhere they go rain sleet or snow, they will fill up the stadium... but for some reason... they never fill up the Azteca unless Cruz Azul, UNAM, or Chivas are in town (meaning the Azteca since both Cruz Azul and UNAM also play in Mexico City)
I dont expect the America game to have a good crowd. First off, Veracruz sucks, and secondly the weather

they area good team!
they also share stadium and one owner that looks at them as the bad son. Not much is invested on the image of that grp over aguilas (for example), the other sister will be Real san luis.
The top 10 teams in this list have to have a the larger averages in concacaf!
other countries:

Doesn't America play in Estadio Azteca?
[MLS Fan]
They'll never survive in a stadium that big, they should build a Soccer Specific Stadium with a total attendance of 25,000. Only then will they be successful [/MLS Fan] :D

Despite beign the current Champ, undefeated and beating teams 5-1.. 17k is not the attendance figures the second most popular Mexican Club should be getting, then again who said they are the second most popular Club ?!?!

Actually, it is to my understanding, that the current owners of Chivas are doing all these promotional events for Chivas. I guess the reason has to do with them making a little bit more money to fight off Vergara.

Those are some mighty impressive attendance numbers for most any league in the world. Anyone have a guess as to the average ticket price though? If it's low, then of course that impacts the overall revenue for the clubs. Regardless, those are great numbers (Necaxa aside, who should be moved to Miami!)
