View Full Version : English G14 Clubs block Chelsea's entry

Spanish sports daily El Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Liverpool along with Arsenal and Manchester United will block Chelsea's proposed entry into the G14 lobby group of Europe's top clubs.
New members of the 18-strong group of G14 teams require 100% approval to join the group. Other members including AC Milan are backing Chelsea's entrance. it is unclear why the English clubs would oppose this.
G14's general manager Thomas Kurth said the issue wasn't on the agenda for tomorrow's meeting. Officials at Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal declined to comment.

but for now, i'm afraid we'll just have to concentrate on getting there on merit, and operating within two-hundred-million pounds of the black.

We only got in by default. Us, Lyon and Marseille. Mainly due to the size of our city and as representives of the French league.. :D

FYI:
The G14 clubs are;
England: Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal
Italy: AC Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus
Spain: Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia
France: Marseille, Paris St Germain, Lyon
Germany: Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen
Holland: Ajax, PSV Eindhoven
Portugal: Porto
Borussia are going bankrupt, so maybe Chelsea can take their place?
I think clubs like Deportivo, Chelsea, Feyenoord and Schalke - all want to be considered a part of this.

But the current members are going to want new members that they can be sure will remain elite clubs. Is Schalke really becoming an elite German club, or just enjoying a great season?
As for the English clubs not wanting Chelsea in, I guess it depends on the reasoning. I can see if they believe that Chelsea won't remain a top club for a long period (believing then, that RA will pull his money and it will all fall apart). However, I like it less if its just sour grapes.

who said u were going to win the CL :confused: .All the refs are gunning for u boys now.Might have to bribe some german ref :D
