What a wonderful comeback, especially away to a side with so much to play for. Sadly it'll be a few days before I might see any vision of this game, any indication as to how we played over the ninety minutes?

While aspirations of that fifth spot are perhaps still a little unlikely, if we could get past Hertha in two weeks we might be in with a shout after all, especially with some six or seven rounds to go. Regardless, good to see Ricken in the goals again, and heartening to read Rosicky and Ewerthon's names on the scoresheet, given what the future might hold for both next season.

Just finished watching this game on my Tivo. Great, entertaining game, certainly from a neutral standpoint, and obviously BVB fans will love it. Three excellent goals for BVB, and assuming Rosicky leaves this summer, hopefully the club will get good money now that he's scoring again. Weidenfeller was incredible too, making a number of super saves. And while I'm not a big fan of Ewerthon, I agree its good to see his name on the scoresheet. It's good to see all the big names living up to their potential.

The only disappointment was seeing Koller and Rosicky limp off. Koller looked to have a hamstring problem, which is never a good sign, but let's hope for the best there.

The team looked very good overall, good string midfield play and the forwards had a lot of chances. The defense was a bit loose, and in truth if not for Weidenfeller it could have been three or four goals for Hamburg. Great play from Ricken and Rosicky, and Kehl and Kringe had great games too. Overall though they played much better than you'd expect for a team in the bottom half of the table. If they play like that every week, making it into Europe might not be such a pipe dream.

The problem is, they don't play like this every week. The attacking half of the team shows up much more oftent than the defence does. Their defence is what kills Dortmund. Brzenska is young, inexperienced, and can't handle much pressure yet. Metzelder is still sluggish from not having played in God knows how long. Woerns is old and decrepit. Niclas Jensen is their only GOOD defender right now. When Brzenska matures a little bit he will be a very solid defender, and hopefully Metzelder will get back to form. Then they will be talking. But Weidenfeller is also a sub-par keeper.
To sum it up, Dortmund's main problem is their defence. Hopefully this Degen kid they're getting next season is really good.

Van Marwijk has really got them playing under very difficult circumstances. If only BVB could have gotten him 2 years ago ….

Remember the Real game, I think Sammer screwed up with the subs there allowing them to equalize in the last moments…

And then the last game of the season vs. Cotbuss for direct CL qualification….

Reading this makes me wonder how much you know about what you're talking about.

Brzenska: I think he's played well, in fact he's individually saved two assured goals with his alertness. I'd take him in current form over junk Madouni or sieve Bergdölmo any day of the week.

Metzelder: He's been a bit anonymous, but certainly not a liability in the back thus far.

Wörns: Where this 'Wörns is old and worthless' bandwagon comes from I've no idea but he's been absolutely fundamental in the back and a big part of our club with his spirit, a more than worthy captain. He's not as fast as he used to be and there have been a couple mishaps this season but I'm proud to have him on the pitch.

Weidenfeller: Before the Bavarian Bloodbath Roman was statistically the best keeper in the Bundesliga. I've not been disappointed in him overall whatsoever. I'm glad BvM chose him as early and confidently as he did.

"Niclas Jensen is their only GOOD defender right now."

This doesn't even merit a response.

And yes, I'm excited to see what Degen brings to the table next season.

Keith's Response: They are just beginning to come together as a team. People don't know how badly Matthias Sammer destroyed those guys' confidence in each other. When the team began to go bad under Sammer, his idea of getting them to play was to pit them against one another. These guys started the season not trusting each other and in many cases, not even liking each other.

It has taken BvM this long to just begin to turn that around.

And honestly, Dortmund are no longer one of the most talented teams in the Bundesliga. Dortmund is going to have to re-discover the things that truly made it one of the top clubs in Europe.

Hard work and ruthless determination.

BvM seems to finally have the team on the right track. We'll see if the club can survive the financial disaster left by the buffoons who ran the club into the ground.
