View Full Version : It's a bit of a concern when your CF can cross better than his wingers!

Anyone else find that disconcerting today?

Ruud's crosses are actually pin-point accurate  I didn't know he could do that? Hmm... how's about:

-Ruud----RVN--Van Nistlerooy
-Scholes---Keane--Rooney

Up front then?

There is always that point where the club, all of its players, and fans believe that we could beat the world. For Manchester United, this is not one of those times. Regardless of today's demolition, many of the fans on this board still have CL hang-over. Argh! Enough! It is not disconcerting. This is a non-issue. Let's celebrate what is great about our team, as we've heard enough about what's wrong with it.

Go United!!!!

Considering we only played with one "winger" and one full-back...

lol, don't get your knickers in a twist with me....

Besides which, Ruud's delivery is excellent, far better than I ever knew and if he consistently puts in that kind of quality ball he would legitmately be the best crosser at the club.

It's a shame that the two replies manage to see the negative in a joke. People having a bad day or something?

Rio puts in decent crosses, why not him at RB? (Actually, I think Sven should seriously consider this for England.)
Unless you have more evidence that Ruud can do this consistently, its silly. And as far as wingers crossing...........take it from a club that fielded Gronkjaer for over 3 years. They're hard to find.

I think its hard to find wingers who cross the ball straight into the net

If you think so, I'd give Laurent Robert a call.

lol, people, you do realise this was a joke thread right?? If anyone actually is failing to notice...all 3 front men are the same person... lol, I can't believe I'm putting a disclaimer on this but here goes: At no point was I suggesting Ruud should play out wide or be anything but our CF. It was merely an observation that Ruud is a surprisingly good crosser of the ball.

Hum, now I feel like ZANI...when threads go bad.... lol.

Motter, maybe you wanna close this one and put it out of its misery..it's clearly a stinker. I think I've just become goluck's sock puppet  :D

Well... I feel you DS... people called me silly when I said Ruud had a more rounded game than Henry, but I was serious...

Ruud's passing is excellent, he holds up the ball better than anyone else, and he is able to spot the runs of others and feed them with passes.. that said, its obvious Henry is better at providing for others, however Ruud is no slouch in that department and his abilty to do other things that Henry cant like head the ball and play as a CF make him a very well rounded forward... on that note, for a striker Kezman's passing is pretty good...

I think that Ruud's crossing would be more of a factor if we played the formation we played today where 2 or 3 people other than Ruud can be reasonably expected to get into the box... ie, Rooney, Ronaldo/Giggs, Scholes... none of them are real targets, but Giggs and Scholes rarely miss open headers and Ronaldo can fly.

I will be really glad when we have played 10 games or so with just the minimum changes to the starting lineup.

I always really like your posts. I'm suprised by a lot of the insight on these boards. Anyway, I agree with your comments on Ruud. His passing is fantastic, especially for a CF, and he is probably more well rounded then Henry. I don't think we'll see too much tinkering now that we have most of our strikers healthy again, with the exception of Saha.

Geez Dark, we finally manage to bag a good number of goals in a match and you just have to point out the negatives! After getting knocked out of Europe and seeing the Premiership effectively forfeited to Chelsea, we progress to the last 8 of the FA Cup - a title of which we are defending champions - and you have the nerve to do this! I'm telling you Dark, you'd better hope not to run into me and a pineapple in a dark lane, because you could only hide (what, with you being Dark and all) for so long, and then it'd be curtainss! YIt happened to Forlan, and he used to be bald... so be warned!!

P.S: To anybody who took this (or DS's original post) seriously - you're a ********ing gobshite. But you know I still love you (not you ZANI).

Yep - Ruud is a footballing god. Not only a fantastic cross for the Scholes goal but a great piece of 'beat yer man' wing play to boot!

Anyone notice a couple of decent long ball passes and a few crosses from Wes too? I think right-back suits the lad.

Maybe Ruud & Wes could be the new Beckham and Gary :)

Why play the best Centre Half we have out of position when we have Gary Neville available at RB?

I actually think Sven should check Rio at defensive mid (where they have no quality players), as he is better on the ball and has the more suited (to the position) physical attributes than Terry & Capmbell, who are both slightly better positionally and maybe a touch better defensively. A gamble best tried against a minnow nation or in a friendly, but it could pay off massively for England if it works - he'll win all the kickout headers, too ;).
