The moment of truth, no matter how great you claim your taste is.
My top ten are songs from "Liquid Swords" and Nas "Illmatic", followed by some tracks off the last Death In Vegas and the fourth disc from the Jam box set.

Title and Registration - Death Cab for Cutie.
I listened to that album ad nauseam when I first got it.
For the record, my least played is She's Lost Control - Joy Division. But that's mainly because I just got Unknown Pleasures.

However, I haven't docked my iPod to iTunes in a while and lately I've been playing my son's favorite three tunes over and over in the car. So, if I were to dock the iPod and update all of the counts, I'm guessing Ralph Covert's "18 Wheels on a Big Rig", Al Hirt's "Green Hornet" and The 5.6.7.8.'s "Woo Hoo" would be in the top 10.

I just linked my iPod to iTunes and, sure enough, Ralph Covert's "18 Wheels on a Big Rig" and Al Hirt's "Green Hornet" jumped into the number 6 and 8 slots respectively.

My play counts are pretty skewed, because of many many many underlying storylines that are going on with my itunes library.
However.
1: The cheezy-est vocal loop ever recorded in the history of mankind: this guy doing a really horrible AC/DC impression saying "ROCK AND ROLL!", clocking in at 2 seconds with 67 plays.
2: My solo stuff : final mix of a song called "stormy seas" , 57 plays
3: " " : " " called "exclamations" : 49 plays.
4: " " : " " called "Miscellaneous Sandwich" : 47 plays.
5: " " : " " called "Mia Clarke" : 47 plays.
6: " " : " " called "Sombrero Frasier's Theme" : 46 plays.
7: " " : " " called "Harbinger" : 45 plays
8: " " : " " called "Fractions" : 44 plays.
9: A 4 second clip of the sound of a record needle being laid down taken from my turntable : 43 plays.
10: The same vocal loop guy from #1, this time saying "yeah!". Under 1 second long : 43 plays.
...yeah. The first song I have that doesn't qualify under some special category is "Holland, 1945" by Neutral Milk Hotel, with 30 plays. But i think the only reason that is so high is because I put that song on a lot of mix CDs for friends and such, and i always go through and check the trasitions by skipping to the end of the song and seeing how it belnds with the next one. Technically, that counts as a "play".

how do you update the play counts? my playcounts only reflect the songs I've played through my Mac. I've docked my ipod several times ... but songs I listen to all the time on my ipod say in iTunes that I've never listened to them.
is there something I'm missing?

If you dock your iPod, you should see the Play Count list if you scroll all the way to the right. If you don't see it, you can add it by control-clicking on the top bar in iTunes.
My list hasn't changed much since the last time.
1. Ted Leo, WHATRBG?
2. Springsteen, Incident on 57th
3. Belle & Sebastian, If She Wants Me
4. Springsteen, The E Street Shuffle
5. Springsteen, Kitty's Back
6. Springsten, Wild Billy's Circus Story (I suppose you could say that Wild & Innocent is in my all-time favorite albums list. It's not, but Incident is, and those are the songs that follow Incident on my playlist.)
7 (tie). M83, 0078h
7 (tie). Postal Service, The District Sleeps Alone
9 (tie). The Box Tops, The Letter
9 (tie). They Might Be Giants, The Statue Got Me High (huh?)
9 (tie). Billy Bragg & Wilco, One By One

Well, I'm not that far behind you, as it's number nine on my list.
I'd bet that if other MTVM regulars were to post their most played lists, Dragostea Din Tei would show up in at least their top 25.
