It's underway now. 4 minutes in, Nelsen makes a strong challenge on Baros that requires treatment. Nelsen still being referred to as "the American."
As I'm writing this, Nelsen made a much smoother challenge on Nelsen.

I've got Martin Tyler on the FSC broadcast here and he got it all sorted out.. "He's from New Zealand but played his soccer in America, Major Soccer League"
Split loyalties here as I want Nellie to do well, but it is my Reds playing..

Just remember what Blackburn's "defenders" have done to Liverpool players over the past two years, and it becomes easier to root against Ryan.

Nelsen clatters into Baros again. Foul called. Free kick leads to a good chance for Liverpool, but Baros couldn't get to it.

Blackburn noted by the LFC commentator for being hard-working and quick to organize on defense as Nelsen makes another successful challenge.

Nelsen nutmegged by Garcia but nothing comes of it, except a corner, which Blackburn clear just as the halftime whistle blows.

Liverpool attacking well but unable to break Blackburn's 5-man defense.

On a corner, Nelsen gets away with pulling down Carragher in the box. Should've been a PK for Liverpool, but the ref was blind.

Can't really argue with that result when it's L'pool you're up against.

believe me, we aren't complaining!
and for the first time in 4 matches, no one broke a leg or had any other malicious wounding.

We always have trouble against bunkering defenses.

I watched the game. Saw that replay. Your account is wrong, in my opinion. Nelsen did not pull Carragher, he gave Carragher a deft and clever nudge in the back as he jumped. Was it a foul? Yes. Was it noticeable in the run of play? Not hardly. Was it a good play? Hell yes.

We always have trouble against bunkering defenses.
Then Liverpool should have had no trouble with Blackburn. Rovers spread the game out on Liverpool and gave then lots of chances to play through and around the back line. Liverpool could do nothing and have no one to blame.
Simply because a team plays with a 1 forward system does not make it "bunkering." I suggest you watch the game again if you have it Tivo'd.
But then again, maybe your siding with "logic, reason, and perspecitve" is more selective than you claim.
Cheers,
Tim

I didn't see the game and I don't have TiVo. I was going off the "fair and balanced" commentary on the LFC website.

Well that explains everything! Faux News must run the LFC site.
My impression of the game was that Liverpool could not form a decent attack and Blackburn's defense was superb. Nelsen was pretty damn awesome...reading and playing the game like a true vet. Overall Liverpool just couldn't get anything through and seemed to be unable to stay calm on the ball as Rovers closed them down very quickly all over the field. Rovers were very, very quick to counter on occassion and had some pretty surprising possession and build-up (especially in the second half). Not much bunkering at all in my opinion. Liverpool had maybe two chances the whole game. Pretty impotent side.
Cheers,
Tim
