English FA Cup Quarterfinal 3
Blackburn Rovers vs Leicester City
The Ryan Nelsen show will be on at 8am. Sunday FA Cup advance? I think so.
If you can't drag yourself out of bed by 8am, then in true FSC fashion the match will be aired two mroe times within a 24 hour period. 5pm Sun and 2am Mon.

Great thanks for the info. Sounds like Nellie's doing a good job-would like to see for myself.

According to the Blackburn website Ryan has 33:1 odds that he will score the first or last goal. Wanna make some money?

Blackburn leading 1-0 with a minute left. Nellie named MOTM! Full time! Blackburn moves into the Semifinals of the FA Cup. No way they could have done this without our captain joining them. Way to go Nellie!

No score from Nellie unfortunately.
He seems to fit very well in the Rover's system.
The announcer was constantly on about Nelsen.
A rock solid performance in a damned chippy match.

one match away from the FA Cup finals!
if Rovers & Nellie make it there, will there be an organized happening (Flanagans, Summers, Lucky Bar, etc) to root for Ryan?

The announcer was constantly on about Nelsen.
And even called him "the young American" ...

I believe the stadium announcer said that Nelsen was MotM for Blackburn. Not the broadcast announcer, but the the stadium speakers in the background.
Aside from Nellie being American and all, I would like the match announcer to maybe just once say that he won a Championship last fall in MLS with DC United...
Thx,
Jay!

If they make it to the final, I will!
I'd love to put something together to send to the team at Ewood Park and the other Rovers supporters clubs, about the pride and connection DC United fans still have for Nellie, and will hopefully continue to have for him.
Maybe we can get him to send back a Rovers Jersey with "Barra Brava" on it or something....

The last Brit announcer that did a Rover's match did mention that..

Rebelzero, you have a good idea...it would be great if we could collectively send something to Rovers and Nellie before the April 16th (I think that's the date) semis. But what?
How about a back to back DC United/Rovers flag. Just sew them together. Sporting Kicks (http://www.sportingkicks.co.uk/shop.php3?teamid=&prodid=1737) has a blue and white checkered flag for about $18, postage included. It's 5' X 3'. Not exactly official Rovers, but the colors are right. I couldn't find anything else on-line.
Any other ideas?
...Maybe we can get him to send back a Rovers Jersey with "Barra Brava" on it or something....I'll bet the Onion Bag could do that. Having just bought a Nelsen Rovers jersey from them, I can tell you that it will cost around $100. The only problem is that they don't have red FA letters or numbers...just black.

I treasure the jersey Nellie gave me after we beat the scum at the swamp in the playoffs. I watched the game and say that all the EPL teams that passed on him with a free transfer to boot are now eating caca.

This is the fourth time I've seen him play on TV now. I've been impressed by him in every match. In each of those he was the best defender on the field for either side. Superb all-around play.
I'll have to run for cover now, but I wanted to say that I think he is playing better soccer over there than he did over here. It seems likely that he fits into a 4 back system better than our 3 man outfit.
Should be fun to catch him three times this week, especially the Arsenal match.
Cheers,
Tim

Oh man, isn't that the truth. I'll tell you what, if they win the FA Cup, it will probably reach legendary proportions, something along the line of the IBM guy who said "who would ever want a home computer?". What American - Nelsen? never heard of him - we pass... Blackburn is looking ********in' brilliant right now.
The best part for Nellie (I hope) is they come through with some serious $ --- he deserves it.
You'd think that someone at Blackburn would square away these announcers - he's from New Zealand - and if what my Australian cousin tells me is true, the Aussies have first dibs on claiming rights to all succesful Kiwis (sports, music, acting, etc.) ;)

No need to run for cover, Nellie is just playing up to the level of his competition. As for fitting in better, that really is a matter of opinion, but most center backs probably prefer a 4 man backline as there is less of a burden on them, they have cover in the middle so they can afford to take chances and make plays.

I must inform you that Ryan Nelsen is the captain of the New Zealand MNT (known as the All Whites) If he is as you say, an American, this should cause FIFA (& NZ for that matter) quite some concern. :p :D

I believe Jay was making a joke on the fact the announcers consistently call him American. There ahs been several references to DC United, MLS, and the MLS Cup during matches which Ryan has played. The most noteable being the Chelsea match he started in. He's done very good for himself and wish him the best.

I guess I have just missed the announcers glorifying our championship on TV. I'll have to watch harder.
Thx,
Jay!
