Well it might very well be for 2004/05? I have a bad feeling about playing at the Reebok. Bolton are just the team to put the knife in after our CL exit?
While we've been moaning about young players not coming through, circumstances have given them a chance and, even though their lack of experience has probably cost us, it all bodes well for next year. Which is why my focus is very much on the future!
Arsene may be having a bad year, but, I have to admit to getting a warm fuzzy feeling when I think about what he's putting together for the "Ashburton Grove/Emirates Stadium years"? So I thought I'd take the time to muse, something we may get to do a lot between now and May, over our current crop of young players.
1. Cesc - Top of my list for 2004/05. An outstanding talent, a hard working central midfielder with an instinct for goal. Good vision, confident on the ball, excellent passer and solid in the tackle. Bloody Marvelous!
2. Reyes - At the start of the season he looked unstoppable, but, ManUre proved, with a referee as a willing accomplice, that he was! At the moment, wherever he goes he gets the same treatment and I think he will just have to learn how to deal. He looks like he's having a hard time mentally too, but, he has incredible potential; Pace, skill, vision, passing, goal hungry and a decent shot? I'd like to see him go to ground less and see what he's capable off when he truly feels he belongs. Perhaps affection through attrition?
3. Clichy - not quite as assured the last couple of games, perhaps going AWOL in defence in eagerness to get forward, but, still a huge talent. Fast, aggressive, not too shabby on the overlap and willing to cut in and go direct for goal; something Ash is a bit more reticent about.
4. RVP - Not the same kind of player as DB10, but, has the credentials to fill his boots and go on to be just as big an Arsenal legend. He's got the lot. Excellant ball control for a big guy, strong and aggressive and very goal hungry; perhaps too much so - but he's young! Apparently he's also decent in the air, but, I've only seen one decent header and taking corners doesn't give him much opportunity!
5. Flamini - I have to admit, I didn't like the look of him when he first arrived! Every game he's played I've been more impressed with his potential. He's been shoved into some big games and proved he has the kohoonas to cope. He's not the finished article and his final ball leaves something to be desired at times, but, I expect him to be pushing Cesc as our best youngster next term! His work rate and attitude are great. He reminds me of Rayzer and Grimandi, but, with more skill. Apart from their lack of height, it's not hard to imagine the partnership between Cesc and Flamini being of the magnitude of Vieira and Petit!
6. Quincy - talking about partnerships, what about Quincy & RVP for Titi & Dennis? RVP is not slow, but, this lad looks like he has Titi's pace and the skills to boot. I've had my eye on Quincy for a couple of years. When I first saw him he looked like an unguided missile! It was great to watch his energy/enthusiasm and gratifying to see him turning into the finished article. Perhaps there could be life after TH14?
7. Senderos - Very frustrating! How long have we had him and how much time injured? We haven't had a lot of chances to see this lad, but, Sol's injury and Kolo's loss of form has given him a chance and I've been impressed. He's solid in the air, passes well and isn't afraid to run with the ball! From the commentary, it sounded like he did well against Bayerntoo? Even though I'm sure he'll become a regular, I still want a CB this summer! :)

1. Ebouue - Looks useful. Not seen much of him, but, looks like he's got the makings. Coming from Beveren, we must have really had a very good look?
2. Lupoli - I know he can score goals, saw him play in the Worthless against Citeh, but he looks like there's away's to go yet. Was it 1st half vs Sheffield? He needed way to much time on the ball, was easily dispossessed and generally looked weak and clueless! May be just over awed by the occasion?
3. Hoyte - Does Ebouue's arrival mean curtains? Sometimes I think the only thing he has going for him is that he's a Brit? He looks like a 2D defender and he's pretty dire going forward. His crosses suck and why does he cross when no one heads the ball anyway? Big lack of imagination. Don't really believe in this lad, but, next year is when I'll make up me mind, if we still have him!
4. Pennant - ??? By all accounts the lad's had a tough life and turned out pretty decent from a not so good area? It may all have been a bit to much too soon and Arsenal have to carry their share of the blame for that. He's not the brightest blub and his last chance with Arsenal is gone. Hope jail sorts him out! I'd be suprised if he ever fulfills his potential, but, it's a funny old life?
5. Aliadiere - ???? Personally I think the injuries have hidden the fact that he hasn't got what it takes, but, AW, who certainly knows, has kept faith with this kid? I saw him play against Liverpool last year and he was hopeless. Willing, but, just off the pace of the game and didn't gel with the team. I think Quincy is pushing down the pecking order, but, if he stays I think it will mean less cash for Dennis's final year???:(
