I hate these kinds of rumors/posts. But, nonetheless, this *was* posted on SounderCentral.com by a fairly reliable fan source...

From inside the Sounders FO.

"Seattle and two other cities (vying for two spots) are in "PRIME" position for MLS 2006."

Yes, that's right 2006.

What I was told is that Seattle is in serious contention for one of two spots for 2006 MLS expansion. That while Seattle doesn't have soccer specific stadium the layout of Qwest and other regional interests are acceptible and enticing to MLS.

MLS talk lately has been of 2007 expansion and while that might still be in the works, it seems that talking about 2007 may be more of an effort to not talk about 2006.

Also, the rumors about Van. & P-ville seem to point to an entrance into MLS before 2010. Van. is supposed to be breaking ground on an SSS before the end of 2005 and a private ownership group will be taking ownership of PGE Park and its tenants by the end of 2005. Apparently, they are looking to turn PGE into a SSS with the idea of introducing a Central American or even a South American entry into MLS.

Personaly, I am tiring of the up/down rhetoric and will only believe it if and when it happens.

Seattle should have been an expansion team for this season. They did very well that year. The Sounders have improved a lot. Real Salt Lake shouldn't have been chosen as an expansion team. I haven't even heard of any teams there! Seattle should have been chosen so I hope that in 2006 they will become an MLS team.:D
