According to CONCACAF.COM: (http://www.concacaf.com/view_article.asp?id=2971)

The Nats will face Trinidad on Wednesday, August 17th at Hartford's Rentschler Field.

As rumored, Columbus gets the Labor Day Weekend Mexico match (Sept. 3rd).

Discuss.

Hartford, that's interesting. It's probably good that it's not in Foxboro since they're already gonna get two games in the Gold Cup. I like the idea of giving games to cities without MLS teams because I think they can get soccer burnout, like with the Grenada and Jamaica games in Columbus last year.

I'm going to give myself a pat on the back, because I called that Hartford would get a WCQ. ;)

Great stadium, short drive from both NYC area and Boston area should equate to a very large crowd.

Positive rep if you prove it.

Hartford may be a tough sell during midweek vs. a weak caribbean opponent, but the legions of youth soccer families in CT may make a difference. How did last year's ChampionsWorld match draw in Hartford?

This was before any teams qualified for the Hex. My thought was that if Jamaica made it through, that's who we would play in Hartford.

so 8-9 years ago the we had the US-Mexico game (and some other qualifiers) broadcast live on ABC and now the game is on ESPN Classic and the others on ESPN2. Good to see we're making progress.

24,200 for Liverpool v Celtic, parking lot full of cars from all over the northeast. Average ticket was over $55 for this match.

My fear is US soccer will do a crappy job of promoting it, like they did with the Mia game.

In Hartford you're pretty much guaranteed a pro-USA crowd. The stadium's field looks like it was designed for soccer. If you're coming, I'd stay in downtown Hartford. There should be a new 30-floor Marriott opened by then, and a 40 floor Hilton opened last week. Most of the fun before and after the game will probably happen downtown, the stadium is 2 miles away, quick bus or cab ride. But I'll get into specifics later, just over-joyed that I'm getting a qualifier!
