I think Walker is solid and has good upside. Glad to see he's with the club.

AS long as it isn't Jonny Walker, I'm good with this.

Just what exactly is a SENIOR Developmental roster spot? I thought that to make it onto the developmental roster you had to be under a certain age (Walker probably qualifies) AND had to be effectively a rookie or maybe a second year player.

As best I can determine: http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4111932&postcount=2
The "senior developmental" designation seems to be new this year. Apparently there were a few around the league last year, but it's expected to be standardized league-wide this year. Depending on who you ask it refers to 24 year olds with developmental contracts, or it refers to non-GEN-A players in the second year of their developmental contracts. In that case, apparently non-GEN-A players on developmental contracts will either have to be offered senior contracts or cut after their second year.

There's the possibility that teams can only sign a certain # of senior developmental players, but I haven't heard that anywhere.

I interpret that to mean that Walker has a year's grace to make the senior roster. Not a bad pickup at all, as he'll get lots of playing time with the reserves and it's a cheap insurance policy in case Jaime breaks down and/or Esky gets an offer overseas. I think it's pretty clear that Adu is considered a midfielder, and even Q1 gets more time there than forward.

DCU currently has 2 senior developmental players in Walker and Arena - I have yet to see any other MLS teams with that many (although there will be plenty of developmental contracts signed in the next few weeks throughout MLS).

I can already see it, a haiku, a rap song, poem, chant for Nick Van Sicklen when he scores a vital goal for us. If I may, I'd prefer something to the tune of "Rapper's Delight" if at all possible :D

Rapper's Delight:
Ya see, he's N-I-C-K a-van Sicklen, and the boy is F-L-Y
The Wisconsin Badger is on the wing, for these reasons I'll tell you why
He's 6-foot-one and he's tons of fun and he plays for D.C.
He's got more moves than Joshua Gros and he shoots so viciously
He's got bodyguards, he's got 2 big stars that definitely aint the wack
He's got Dema Kovalenko, and the one we call "the Wank" [er]
I could go all day, but perhaps I should get to the chorus...
I said a-Nick, Knock, the Nickie the Nickie to the Nick Nick Knock and you don't stop shooting
Til the goal-goal goalie, said up-jump the goalie with the rhythm of your foogity feet
chanting this would be, of course, damn near impossible - unless the Barra suddenly became the Sugarhill Gang.

Didn't think it required another thread, but DCU signed Boswell and Merritt to developmental deals.

Boswell, a 22-year old defender from Florida International University started all 18 games during his senior year and was named to the 2004 NSCAA/adidas All-South First Team. As captain of the Golden Panthers he tallied eight points on three goals and two assists. He earned First Team All-Atlantic Soccer Conference honors as a junior in 2003.
Does anybody know anything besides this on Boswell?

I'm just worried that he's always going to be following around one of our players recording everything he does...

I'm worried that he's going to accuse us of racist ticketing policy.
