I don't know if this has been done before, if so sorry.
Anyway let's here where everyone is from(yes I know many have it on their visible info, but tell us anyway) and when you came to support the greatest club in the world.
Currently in Louisville, KY
Originally from St. Louis, MO
In 1995 I saw an EPL show on cable and watched an amazing player named Cantona and I was hooked!

Good idea! I live north of the US, in a country where hockey rules, until the big lock-out! Some people call it Canada, others, Canuckistan (I prefer the latter). Enough of my political drivel!
My son got me into football, when he lived in London; as a ManU fan. Lived and socialized with Gooners and still survived, what a kid!!
I am a Red Devils fan as is he, and we are gearing up for the Milan match!
To boot we have to watch it on an Italian station, but who cares!
Sorry to rabbit on; went a bit offside with me chatter!

I was born in Norway, but moved to Kenya before I could talk. Mum's Norwegian (yes, I do have a signed OGS poster!), Dad's from here. I'm 100% Kenyan on the inside, though :).
I live in Nairobi, Kenya, at least until the summer when I just might still be going to Uni (though I finish my A-Levels next year, there's a probability I'll skip them). I have 100% decided that I'm going to the University of Manchester. No question.
So from latest September next year, I'll be the Kenyan Manc of BS!
Just as I started hearing about football, a family friend bought me a United shirt. That was that! Well, I guess some of you were already supporters by then.

Raised primarily in Boston, college at GWU in DC, Law School in Miami where I still live.
Grew up on basketball, probably still is my favorite sport but have watched soccer (as much as one could find it) since about 7.
Became a fan after watching Diego Maradona in the 1986 WC and fell in love with the game after going to 3 matches at USA 94. Never bought a pair of soccer cleats until a year later at age 25 when I started playing.
Been down with United since about September of 94 when I saw Ryan Giggs turn some fool 4 times before shooting and was fortunate to see them against Juve at Giants Stadium in 2003.
I've seen a lot of players come and go that I liked (Cole, Cantona, Becks, Kachelkis) but as I've said previously, I don't support another club team the way I support MUFC. The passion even surpasses DC United and I've been to plenty of DCU matches.
This is my team and death to the infidel who can't understand why I cheer for a side from a city I will probably never go to. The side is class and they'll be my team until I check out...

Every time I hear the name George Washington on a college basketball broadcast or someone who went their I always hear the line from the movie "Big" when Tom Hanks is interviewing for the toy job and he is asked what school he went to:
Tom: George Washington
Interviwer: Ahhh, G-W!

I'm originally from deep East Texas.
Attended Boston College in Boston (technically Chestnut Hill), Massachussetts. I'm in my 3rd year of law school at The University of Texas. Going to clerk for a federal judge next year. Plan on returning to Boston in 2 years, since my wife has accepted a position at a big firm there after she finishes her clerkship.
I was raised on soccer. Played from the day I was 4. Played striker until about 12, when I began to slow down relative to my peers. Was moved to keeper, and in a pinch, CB. I was a really excellent keeper for a local travelling team, but I'm only 5 '9" and lack athleticism. Played lots in intramural soccer at BC.
Didn't follow professional soccer until I was at BC. A Swedish exchange student loved Arsenal (and particularly Llungberg). We were friends, but he was so obnoxious about it that I started supporting Man Utd. It was a casual thing until 2002 when I got FSW.
I also support the US National Team and the Metrostars (because of Howard, actually, back when he played there).

A Kuwaiti currently studying in London. been a man united supporter since as far as I can remember. my father is a hardcore fan too, I guess that's where I got the red devil in me!!!
as a youngster, we couldn't get uniteds matches on local television, and we had to wait for videos sent from the UK by my fathers friend to watch our team... mostly were "match of the day" with sporadic amateur videos taken by the same fella when he went to a United's match. I remember that my father used to be as excited as a kid when we went to collect the post :D
I am still waiting for the day to go to Old Trafford which hopefully is very soon :)

I'm new to bigsoccer so I thought this would be an apropriate first post. I'm from southern California, and I started to follow Man Utd last season. I saw a game flipping through channels, and got hooked on the first game.I used to have watch it all in Spanish (which I couldn't speak), but I finally get it in english thankfully. I've watched all the Man Utd games since. Anyone who had family into Man Utd is lucky. I had to convice mine to become fans. I'm new to the team compared to everyone else and new to bigsoccer so go easy on me. I think I'm going to love this board.

Except when I'm grumpy. (man, I hate these Euro hangovers)
Anyways,
My name is Ian. I'm 33 and live in Frederick, MD. I was born here, but my family moved to San Jose, CA when I was 3 and pretty much grew up there till I move back in Dec 99. In 1981, George Best came to play for the old NASL San Jose Earthquakes. Obviously, he made a great impression on me. I catch the matches I don't watch at home at The Lucky Bar in Washington D.C. It's an hour from here, but worth it to enjoy watching the games with other footy fans... It's not Old Trafford, of which I've been to, but it's better than watching it by myself.
I'm a member of Shareholders United and I stongly encourage other fans to join up and support our club by helping to fend off snakes like Malcolm Glazer and other of his ilk.

Yo everyone. My name is Alex. I'm 19 years old, born and raised in Good ol' Kansas City. Right now, though, I'm in London studying at King's College for my freshman year...but I plan to trasfer somewhere else for next year. It's a long story as to why I'm doing it that way, so i wont go into specifics.
Anyways...I had been really involved in Soccer ever since I was a little kid, mainly since my dad and his whole family are originally from Iran. I was playing in the front yard with all my uncles and cousins from a young age...so yeah. I got really into it. :)
Anyways, I never really supported a team until the Wizards came around in 96. They are still my one love...but in 1999 I attended a soccer camp where we watched a video of the European Cup final. I had known a fair amount about club soccer over in Europe, but I never really considered myself a fan of a team until I saw that game. The spirit and the tenacity I saw during that final was more than enough to convince me that this was the team for me. Then I did some more research on them, and I was really really impressed by the fact that of all of the so called "superclubs" in Europe, onyl United were achieving ther success mainly with players tehy developed themselves.
So yeah. I started to follow them really closely after that, catching games whenever and wherever I could.
After moving over here for school, I started to write for Yanks-abroad.com, and as a result I started feeling like I should start having a more neutral perspective...but there's still a big part of me that really wants United to win every time I see them play.

Wow I think you've lived in more places than I have.
I was born in Denver, then moved to New Jersey, started playing youth soccer in Massachsetts and continued in Alabama, before stopping when I was in high school in Ohio (I really regret that decision now). Came to Illinois for the end of high school and got back into soccer playing a lot of intramurals going to the University of Illinois down in Champaign (when I had the time!).
Got started following the pro game with the old MISL around 1992 or so. It was really the only soccer I could find on TV, and it was indoors and played by a bunch of hacks and has-beens, but to me it was great. I watched large portions of the 1994 and 1998 World Cups, and read an article or two about a French guy named Cantona playing for a team in Manchester, but only started to get into the club game when the Chicago Fire came to town. Got a little bit into the European side when I saw highlights of the 1999 CL final on Sportscenter. I didn't quite know what the treble was at the time, but I knew that winning a game by scoring two goals in injury time had to be one of the most incredible finishes ever. For some reason I had forgotten that it was the same team Cantona played for, but I started following them a bit more and really got into the team watching Ryan Giggs in the CL around 2000 or so. Made the journey to Manchester in May 2002 (though the season had just ended), and was absolutely blown away by Old Trafford, empty as it was at the time. The rest is history.

I'm new to big soccer as well and it's good to get to know other Man Utd fans since there aren't that many around here. My name is Joel, age 27 and live in a small town just outside of Provo, UT but work in Provo. I've lived in my fair share of places too as my dad was in the military. First was introduced to soccer when we lived in Germany in the 80s and 90s (all my german friends played)....began following english soccer and Man Utd shortly after returning from Argentina in 98 where I began following Boca Juniors.....still trying to convince my wife that anything Man Utd is worth it and getting my two boys excited for soccer and Man Utd!

Thanks for the welcome. I've been lurking here for a little bit and saw that this board had a wonderful mod and posters, and that's why I joined. I don't really have any friends into soccer so this seemed the best place to discuss and get some insight into the game. It's also great to get to talk with some Man Utd fans. I've been having such a hard time finding any premiership fans. Thanks again for the welcome!

I live in Riverside, not to far from Irvine. How did you go from California to Maryland? I don't think I can handle ever moving out east. I don't do well with cold.
