hi, has anyone got these? they sound like a good quality guard- and, IMO, dont look too bad either! :p

also, look at the poll- which type guards do you go for- light weight small ones that give maxiumum flexibility or bigger ones that give more protection but may feel more bulky

I have estavelo top pads. I always found the high-end adidas pads didn't fit me quite right. but these are great. so far i've found that they protect really well(granted there are those incidents where the only thing that can save you is a suit of armour). they're not real big and clunky, which is an added bonus. and they come with climalite sleeves to hold them in place.

which pads do you wear now?

Nike BPS Force , really good protection but very bulky :( does the sleve prevent needing to use tape on your ankles to keep your guards up? :)

it sure does. :D

I had Nike air zoom fortress II's, and liked the protection, but found they were too bulky as well. So I switched to the Mercurial shinpads(with the crazy compression sleeves attached to them) and I ended up chipping part of my shin from a tackle.

The estavelo work well, and the sleeves are great. Only problem is that I need a new pair of sleeves soon because it is winter, and my team has been training in a high school gym.. I slide to save a goal, and burned holes through my sock and sleeve. :( no worries though, i think the pads are class.

have the sleves taken not much damage apart from that? :)

no, they haven't. and i'm quite certain you won't be encountering any hard-wood pitches, so no problems. :p

in the event that something goes wrong, eurosport has new sleeves that can be purchased.

The sleeves didn't do squat for me cause I have really thin ankles. I bought a pair of vapor lite guards a couple of months ago, and the sleeves still havent been worn, those sleeves are pretty worthless for me. Especially when I was wearing the bps guards. Tape works wonders! The vapor lites are SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better, i'm all about lightweight shingaurds now.

Looks like more people favour smaller ones, so for anyone who has voted for them- is there any reason or you are just an attacking player?

I used to be in favor of smaller, lighter pads.. but injury had shyed me away from them. I don't think the pads I have now really weigh me down when I'm playing though.
