I have the biggest game of the season coming up. I have been in a div 5 series for way way too long, never finishing higher than 2nd. up till now, there has always been a big fish in my series pond, but this season for the first time, a bot came down from 4, and the league should be between me and my longest series rival. if i go up to 4, i will get tonked eveyr game, but i dont care, i want to promote.
so, this coming weekend, its 1st v 2nd, me versus my rival. I have spent big and bought my self a second WC playmaker in an attmept to win the mf. As well as WC pm, he has passable winger. I have no games to try him out, i am throwing him in to the deep end. So where will i get the best use out of him??I am a df trainer, so its 5 at the back for me. so the choice is to play him as one of 3 Inner Mids, play him as IM towards wing, or play him as winger, towards middle.
any suggestions?

If you want midfield then play 3 IM's and don't play any towards the wing.

Would you consider running a 4-4-2 and boosting your midfield and attack? If you are training defense, your D should still be strong enough to sustain this change. The only negative is that one of your trainees doesn't get training this week, but you would throw a wrench into whatever plans your opponent has for you.
Just and idea, depends on how good your D is and how much you want to win this game.

For WC PM / Passable winger he should be played as an inner midfielder not as a winger towards the middle.
His greatest strength is his midfield not his winger. Play him there.

play him at IM if he's one of your best two IMs....save the WTM or repositioned IM spots for the lesser pms....

agreed. 4-4-2 with one 3 im and an offensive winger sounds like a better formation to win than 5-3-2

As you have a number of good defenders (I assume) you might want to consider an offensive central defender to give the midfield a boost (if you have such a player).

I would say play him in the middle as a PM, not a winger towards middle.
On the fact that you've been in V for too long, how long is that? I've been in v.251 since season 19.

Not to mention you are always well versed in the art of the 4-4-2...
Yup - 3 IMs is your best bet.
A Wtm (or two) boosts your midfield the most
An IM to the Wing detracts from your midfield. _ better off with an offensive winger and 3 IMs.

What these guys have all been saying... if he scouts you... and he should... he will expect a 5-3-2... if you throw the 4-4-2 at him it should shake things up... although... alot of it depends on what kind of formation he plays? what does he play? where do his strengths lie... find his weakness and attack it, or try to nullify his strength.

Paul you should also register your team here and tell us who they are if you really want help.

a lot of good advice. I took over club in season 18, faffed around for first 2 seasons, and only really took it seriou, knowing what to do, training etc, in season 20. 100 games in same series though after this season.
the team i play always goes 352. pic'ing at weekend, he hit 57 in MF on hatstats. He has no idea (unless he reads this) how good my mf can be, and neither do I, as I have yet to play my 3 top guys, 2 world class PM and one briliant, at the same time.
I think i may well go 442. unless he reads this, he in for shock

what kind of 3-5-2... does he take out a CD or a WB? if he takes out a CD then for sure try the 3IM's and use attack in the middle... if he plays without one of his WB's then I'd try to guess which side he plays without the WB... then you play your winger to face the empty slot and maybe get lucky that way.

that should probably give you inadequate midfield if you play home. I have 3 world class and a magnificent pm towards middle and it gives me around passable (high) midfield home at average team spirit.

Actually, that may give him a low passable depending on form. Because I have two brilliants and an outstanding in my mid, and played a winger with passable PM towards middle and I pulled a inad (high) midfield this past weekend at home, I think he'll probably get a low passable.

oh ok. yeah. my guys have next to zero experience as they're quite young. maybe that's why.

yeah, I will say that one of my brilliant IM's has passable exp, so that could play a big roll in it as well.
